I bought a 2009 Q7 in an Adblue no-start condition. The upper DEF tank is full. I have looked up all the ways I can find to reset it. I think it has the software update that allows it to reset on it's own with the key on for a while. But I've tried the VCDS adaptation group 80 thing and it never changes. The value in measuring block group 134 never changes from 11 to 100. If I were to go the delete route, do I need to get it out of the no-start situation first? I can't find it, but I thought I read somewhere that a tune would get it running, but the flashing Adblue 0 miles warning would remain. There are no codes stored for the Adblue system that I can see. I wouldn't mind spending a little money on the DEF system to get it running so I can assess what I've got...if that's possible.

Anyone have any experience troubleshooting? I have the fender liner out. There is crusty DEF stuff all over the bottom of the tank and the wiring and the liner. But it's dry. Looks like the sending unit/heater unit has been out before. I've unplugged everything and cleaned up the connections. What is the system looking for to be able to reset...float level, heater element, pump, pressure?

Thanks

How many miles are on the car? It could be still under warranty. 4/48 after the fix. My son bought one with 90k (at the fix) on it and it is covered til 138k. Worth looking into.

126,628 on the car now. The recall sticker for 23R8 says was done on 11/29/18. There was an autocheck report in the car that was ran in Feb of 2019. It shows the recall as open...maybe just didn't didn't make it on the report yet since it was done just a couple of months prior. It shows the last mileage reported at 98,032 on 1/14/19. The fix was done a couple of months prior to that. Looks like it should be covered. That would be cool. I will check into that.

As a matter of fact...Yes. Dealership says it has the "TDI Extension" and is under warranty until 190,000 miles or until 4/1/2023. So I guess I'll give them a stab at it.
