I'm looking into purchasing my first car and I'm seriously considering a used Jetta TDI. Shopping around the dealerships in New England compared to private sales on the Net, I'm finding that I could save a few thousand bucks buying privately. I'm a little fearful of buying over the Net because of 1.) being my first car and 2.) being green when it comes to TDI's.
I was hoping the members of the forum could give me some advice on good concise questions to ask a private seller and/or dealership and any opinions on my dilemma. Also, some protocol that I can expect on an internet transaction that is customary (ie shipping, approval after my inspection, payment options,...).
