Process question on refund/fix

I have two TDI's. 2011 with 289,000 miles that I was turning in to get $12,500
My 2015 that my wife drives has 66,000 and I was going to get the so called fix and receive $5200. My goal is to them get money and buy a GTI S outright with money I have set aside.

My process question, Can I turn in car and get other fixed and receive money on the spot ? One dealer said it doesn't work that way but I thought I read here someone did that. What steps do I need to take to get $ and complete my goal ?

On 1, yes, you can get the check on the spot, but make sure mileage is exact (they will give you the range and BB amt). Most folx prefer ETF instead of paper check. Do make sure they have the check for right amt in hand, before signing the papers at the dealer.

On 2, you will collect 2/3 of the fix amt during Phase1 of the fix and rest in '18, when they do Phase 2
