I'd say this one is just another of the latest shot of spam we've been hit with. My guess is that it's those damn Atlantic Canadians again... talking about viagra and stuff! :D

And now there's four more spam posts in the Atlantic Section this morning. Is this a bot or is it actually somebody just being an ar$ehole?

Are they hitting the other sections too?

Guys, just click that report post button.

They'll ban.
Unless blindness has struck me, just WHERE is this "Report Post" button?

It looks like this:

Look at the bottom of the post, to the far left.

Not on your own posts.

I report each one that pops up in our section, I'm just curious as to why they're showing up again at all. Pretty sure we had quite a chat on this a couple months ago.

Because they're automated.

Did anyone mention the rel=nofollow trick? It'll stop Google from improving their pagerank (TDIClub has very high pagerank, so that helps us become a target for their spam).

The only surefire way of stopping them, however, is to stop all new registrations. Needless to say, that's unacceptable.

As moderator on the Atlantic Canada section, there isn't much I can do except to delete the offending SPAM when I find out it has been posted. I have been receiving many notices lately as many of our members have been reporting these posts. It is best not to reply to the posts and waste further resources as original poster is unlikely to ever reply since it is an automated posting. I suspect the postings are being made with a product such as available here:
www botmaster net

Hopefully Fred will be able to find a way to help put a stop to it. Maybe some of our members might know more about this type of SPAMing as well and how to combat it.

Brian

BrianHarrison: I would insert a space into that link, if I were you. If that URL is blacklisted on Google, that link could send TDIClub's pagerank to 0. Also, if it ISN'T blacklisted, it could PROMOTE a spammer's pagerank.

I made a correction and disabled the link, if anyone really wants to check it out they should be able to figure out the URL. I hope that wasn't on there too long to affect anything. Thank you for the recommendation, it sure seems it is important to be careful in what is posted, as there are many implications that most users are not aware of.
