Who else is still driving their unfixed (pre-emissions fixed) manual TDI?? Curious how many are still out there.

I have a 2012 passat that I love and still drive daily. The 2012's had dual climate zone, heated seats, faux leather and other nice things not offered in the 2015's.

I have a 2015 with heated leatherette seats actually.

There are just too many to list....
...and I've had a half dozen dashes out of 2015s with dual zone climate control, LOL...

Also never heard "faux leather" lumped in with "other nice things" before. That's too funny.

It is a shame that so many of these 50 MPG capable family sedans were removed from the roads in the interest of "clean air". Rest assured, no V8 gas guzzling pickups or SUVs were taken for the same reasons though, so at least we're all safe from that.

My 2015 6MT has all the emission fixes and it is working well since (it popped some codes like a month after I bought it). Although I do suspect the HPFP starting to go, so that just got bumped to the top of my to-do list.

HPFPs don't typically "start to go". They just... go.

I've got a brand new one here for a CVCA if you are interested. It was installed and ran long enough to let us know the engine was tooefed.

Perhaps I should clarify, that I am curious who is driving PRE-Emissions fixed manuals

haha, true, the only 2015 manuals i have seen, about 6 or 7, all had cloth seats and no dual zone climate.

Nah my car cuts out slightly, but enough for me to notice. My wife CRUA was doing the same thing, changed the pump and now all good.

Please send me a PM with your price for that pump. When I did the CRUA the new one was a Bosch reman.

There is no "fixed" CKRA+manual, they never approved one. So the answer would be ZERO on those. They either accepted the buyback, and those cars were crushed, or they kept them as is and continued to drive them as you have.

yeah... thats my question... who kept them and is driving them. I guess my "Pre-fix" implies that there was a fix. I know there is not a fix for '12-'14s but there is a fix for '15 manuals, which is why I asked "pre-fixed" to include both.

I feel like the CKRA+manual was a pretty rare car, given that I've only ever seen three: a friend/comember who had one and sold it back and now has a '15, a then-new 2012 that I test drove at a dealer when they first came out (and nearly bought), and one other one that came through the shop that I put a turbo on before that warranty extension kicked in. That's it. And I see a TON of NMS Passats.

You've got a rare car, there are probably no more than a handful out there. Enjoy it! Take good care of it!

I just picked one up...2012, 283K miles...learning all the ins & outs and fixing a few small things that was the legacy of a fat fingered mechanic in it's previous life. pretty nice car. I wouldn't have bought it if it were a DSG that's for sure. It has an open recall for the driver's airbag...somewhat leary of taking it to a dealer to have fixed. I'd rather have the upgraded part in-hand and I'll deal with it on my own.

Swapping the airbag isn't hard. I did a paddle shifter steering wheel swap on mine and it came out easy.

Dang, you must really like burgundy Passats! Are both of the '97s that color as well?

That's just the way it worked out. I wasn't even looking for one. A friend sent this to me from marketplace since I had clued him in on the somewhat rarity of the NMS in 6MT form. The buyer was asking $4,500 so I made plans to go see it then had to go to sea for a week and so cancelled. I followed the ad while away, the seller dropped the price to $3,500 and still had it when I got back. I made contact again and went to see it, upon arriving he said he had over 100 inquiries into it but I was the first to actually make the drive to CT and show my face. Took it for a test spin and we agreed on $3,000. Milage is up there, (283K) and it's got the dash lights to prove it and it's undeleted as of now but I figured it was cheap enough even if the HPFP detonated I could still walk away OK. I had noticed in the last year the price for these kind of dropped off a cliff but that is mostly for the DSG models. It's had a new turbo at 200K and the timing belt was done at 220K. I'm enjoying it and putting some TLC into it since it's worth it. No, the other B4 is storm grey.
