I noticed in WalMart the other day that the "large" bottle of Power Service both Diesel Kleen (gray) and Fuel Supplement (white) are reduced to 80 oz. vs 96 oz before. Unfortunately the price didn't go down proportionately if it went down at all.:(

Does it treat the same amount of fuel? It's possible the newer formulations are more concentrated per unit volume.

The bottle I bought the other day was still the same amount, but the mouth was smaller, so I had to stuff the little screw dispenser I bought down in there to get it to stay.

Good point, Bob. But it treats 250 gallons vs 300 gallons before, which is consistent with the reduction in quantity.

How long does that "old stuff" stay good?
I've got a 96 ounce from last year I was planning to use this winter. Dunno now.

I take it you don't pay atttention much in the grocery store-Hellmans is in 30 oz jars now,I can't keep track of the shrinking ozs. in cereal boxes, and numerous other items.I bet it won't be long before you won't be able to buy a quart of oil(or liter)-probably go to 28 or 30 oz. bottles, you know how poor the oil companies are.I've also noticed some items in 5 gallon pails are now like 4.7 gal.

If you don't shrink the size first it looks suspicious when you introduce a slightly larger size for double the price.

This larger "value" or "20% free" size then gradually decreases size while maintaining price and the great marketing circle repeats.

A little off-topic,

Can anybody show me where on PS's website they talk about Diesel Kleen or Diesel Fuel Supplement's ability to demulsify dihydrogen monoxide in fuel? This assumed benefit of using PS if curiously missing if I'm not mistaken.

Onthe website they stated that Power Service Diesel Kleen 911 deals with the water emulsion issues. PowerService Diesel Kleen FAQ's have no claims to water emulsion with Diesel fuel.

It is listed as a benefit on the white bottle but not on the gray bottle. They use that chemical in nuclear power plants- its white bottle for me.

I was in great-wall-of-china mart today and looked at the Power Service jugs. White and silver jugs were both 96 fl-oz. The labels on both said 'Treats Up To 300 Gallons.' That is quite subjective as who knows what dosage will be effective as there is such a wide range in diesel fuel quality.

Bk - is there a way to check production date?
I'm not convinced the PS that comes out in October is from anywhere else but the storage room from last winter.
Call me skeptical, sure, but I've been looking at the same bottle of Howes in a parts store in Benton Harbor MI for three years.
Maybe it's aging.

Heh, you're probably right. I didn't even think about that.

My Wallyworld has the 80 oz. bottles now.Guess I'll check the local Tractor Supply to see if they have any 96 oz. bottles left-and they were about $4 cheaper than Wallyworld last time I checked(a few weeks ago).

I'm inclined to agree - if they need the shelf space for other products during the summer, it either gets sold off for cheap or crammed in the back room until October.

Ahh, beechwood aged Howes - for the smoothest acceleration, crispest exhaust and a clean finish.

I found an ole 96er behind all the 80s at walmart just now. They still have several bottles of the winter blend in 96oz but I got the last silver summer.

I picked up two 96oz bottles of the silver bottle and one of the white bottle at Autozone. I got some 911, too. I doubt I'll ever need it... never have before, anyway.

Welcome to the wonderful world of free market enterprise. My ice cream and other groceries have also shrunk, but still cost the same.

We had an local ice cream maker go out of business than rather change to the new size pails for ice cream. Why not be brutal and honest?

The white Powerservice is $12.49 for the 80oz. jug-the silver is over $16.It's over $16 for each at Wallyworld.I bought 2 jugs of Powerservice and a gallon of Marvel Mystery oil at Tractor Supply yesterday-I got a postcard in mail w/ green cow on it-which was 25% off! So I only paid $9.37 a jug-should last me a good long while.....

The new 80oz silver bottles (that treat up 250 gal) also say that they contain the additive "slick diesel" can anyone elaborate on that material?

From the horse's mouth (FAQ #9):
http://www.powerservice.com/faq/

Spicer's lubricity test on various additives provides some insight on how well various additives work in that respect.
