does it blow with key on or off? that would eliminate half the circuit for problems as the outlet is unpowered with key off. if the fuse blows with key off then short is between fuse and relay the key powers. if fuse does not blow with key off then short is probably the inverter itself or the wiring thru center console.

Blows as soon as key turned on. Anyone know new part # number for the plug??? My 2011issue has 135k so not close to being in warranty lol

It's not a hot plug. Only works when the key is on.

before you buy parts get to the inverter and unplug it to ensure that is the cause. I have heard the center console is a pain to take apart but don't know myself.

I just went out and pulled my inverter out in less that 10 minutes. don't need to pull the center console just the back piece of trim. here is how I pulled it....

around the outlet is a small piece of trim with a screwdriver slot just above the plug. carefully start at the slot and work to the side pulling it off. just a couple spring clips holding it on. under this trim is 2 screws holding the inverter in. The center console aft piece of trim pops off by using thin screwdriver about a third of the way up on side on the seam for the aft piece of trim and work down, it pops off from bottom then swings up and off the top of console. the cover door stays on the inverter. That's it....the inverter just falls out.

now for full disclosure... I did this on my 2010, didn't break anything and looks new back together. don't hold me liable if yours is different. here's hoping that the inverter is the problem as it would be an easy fix but might be expensive if you have to buy the piece from dealer.

If you have trouble let me know and I'll do it again and take a couple pics. but it was easy.

Good to know Jet, thanks for doing that although ours works perfectly. Just charged one of our cell phones yesterday using house charger. Maybe it's just not connected properly there at the plug? Good place to start anyway.

Good info jet. I hope to never have to use it though.

Mine blew the fuse as well...since I use my ashtray as a coin box and the lighter plug to recharge my cell phone...my fuse blew cause there was a dime in there. Took me a while to get the dime out and that's when the fuse blew. Both the front and rear ac plugs were dead. One fuse fixed the problem.
