Power Loss = Fuel Filter?

My wife's 06 Jetta has started exhibiting power loss/stumbling under moderate acceleration. When the throttle is opened slowly & gently the power loss isn't apparent. I was going to try to correct it by changing the fuel filter.

I have two questions:

1) Am I chasing my tail with the fuel filter?

2) Is there any issues with using a Wix or Beck/Arnely brand replacement fuel filter?

Thanks.

All turned back to VW. Now a 2017 Hundai Tuscon. Not a single squalk in 10k miles.
First rule of diesel is to change filters.

Either replacement will be fine.

I replace my fuel filter and air filter every 20k, alternating which one is replaced each oil change. Keeps things simple and on schedule.
Unless you follow other vehicles on dirt roads a lot, you air filter is being changed way too often.

Only takes one bad tank! I kept a spare from I'd parts. Fraction of the cost and good ins.
