36,000 miles as of a couple days ago....just out of warranty.....

No issues. No flakes in fuel filter. No trips to dealer except at 10k oil change when I was out of state....(and they nicely dribbled oil all over....)

No additive until ~20k when I started using 4oz. of Stanadyne every fillup, and then found a local B5 station for the last couple of fill-ups.

Issues: once by exhaust flap as i tried to swerve to avoid a dead deer laying on the road in the dark at 3-4am and tripped over its legs and sent me flying about 3 feet in the air and slammed on the road with ford 302 block in the back and got front tires out of alignment and engine check light went on, fixed it at my preferred vw stealership, it was done when it had 20k miles and no issues ever since. (it sure beats hitting the deer's body head-on... wrecked my old 2008 mustang gt by a live deer and had it fixed, never the same so i traded it in for this 2011 jsw and never regret it!)

Still no issues.
32,000 miles, car is 13 months old.
Also, to help you feel better about your purchase you should go to kbb.com and check out the value of your ride. Mine is worth more than I paid for - even with the miles.
So, there are a few failures out there - and **** like that is certainly going to make headlines - but there is also a huge demand for our cars.
Just took your advice and did the KBB test. It did make me feel better! Trade-In value is still over $21k!

No HPFP problems here, although I'm on a wait list for a new mechatronic unit. My build date was November 2009 (built in Germany).

As per this thread/post: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.php?p=2928136&postcount=23
Issues:
- After my first carefree maintenance oil change and computer flash, the tire pressure monitor went off. Reset it, no problems since.
- Girlfriend likes to spin the tires :D
- Going too fast in front of cops during break-in

Loving this car. Having such a wide power band makes for a really nice driving experience. Even with the tires pumped up to 45 psi (max @ 50 or so) the road noise is pretty low and the ride is fairly smooth. When I put the back seats down for the first time I thought I must have bought a truck on accident, since I had so much room back there.

I just did the second fuel filter change on schedule at 40k miles. No metal particles or flakes found in the filter. I made sure I filled the filter can with additives (Howes) to prime everything. I also used the VCDS (VAG-COM) procedure to operate the in-tank lift pump and aux pump at the engine to make d@mn sure everything is fully primed before starting the engine. No hiccups at all during the FF change.

One thing I also do is I only open the fuel filter assembly to change the filter when due at 20k mile intervals. I DO NOT open the filter in between changes just to inspect the filter. Every time the filter can is opened, you risk letting some air and some unfiltered (read: contaminated) fuel get to the HPFP. We know the HPFP is not tolerant of air or contaminated fuel. I suspect this might have something to do with why the fuel filter design has gone thru a few changes since 2009. Mine has the latest version and uses the -434B version filter.

It's possible you can do more harm than good by over-maintaining the filter and regularly inspecting it out of paranoia over HPFP issues. Bottom line is leave it alone and change it when due and make d@mn sure everything is primed properly.

Opti-Lube XPD used from 10k miles on.
Current Mileage- 42800

So far the only issue was I had to bring the car in for low coolant. They pressure tested and inspected the system and found no leaks.

How do you do this VCDS procedure? Awaiting my 2012...

I think the title needs to be changed. It's completely misleading. The word yet was left off

It will be interesting to check back in two years and see what the results may be. In other words............................who has gone from "not yet" to "has"

Just hit 35,000 miles today and nary a check engine light or stumble. Purchased new in November 2009. I'll look at the fuel filter top when I do the 40k and report if I find any shiny bits.

In one case, this might be cheating a little. Picked up my 2011 Golf yesterday with 350 miles on it. No HPFP failure!

I have now passed 25K on my JSW. Also with no HPFP failure.

2011 golf 4-door dsg. At 4600 miles and only issue was driver mirror blinker stopped working after they replaced pass window motor and main window control sw due to safety stop engaging on auto up. Only two issues to date. Run ps and buy fuel at the coop locally. They state it's premium diesel with higher lubricity and some other better stuff. It's made here in Indiana so I also like to support local business. I checked and it is the ulsd formula.

2010 Golf TDI, DSG. Purchased June, 2010. ~27,000 miles. Lots of city driving (in Austin) lots of highway (trips to my ranch 150 mi round trip and other random adventures throughout Texas). Started Powerservice at about 10,000 miles. Never had a problem. Drive more worry less.

2011 Golf TDI purchased 9/12/10 8064 miles. No problems. Tried one can of additive to see if it made a discernible difference. Didn't see or feel any so stopped there. Just had first service. Rruns great.
