Hey guys/gals!

New to the forums but not new to TDi's & VW's. Looking at purchasing a Sport Wagon in the next couple months and was curious if there's many people on here that have them and could tell me how they like them? I believe they're building them off of the Golf chassis now instead of the Jetta if I'm correct? Anyone have a Kerma tune on the new MKVII's yet? Might wait a few months to see if I can find a used one. I'm pretty particular and know exactly what I'm looking for which makes it tricky for me to find one. Any advice or anything to watch out for would be great.

Also is there any major differences between the 2010-2014 tdi motors and the 2015?

I knew they took everything off their website about tdi, but I still see a boat load of them for sale through auto trader? Are they able to have them listed for sale, but you just can purchase them?

BTW very cool links

Dealerships cannot sell new, but if they are used they can sell them. At least that is what my old dealership in Georgia said about TDI sales in wake of the emissions B.S.

I love mine, a 2015. Its a TDI, good power up to about 4000 rpm, then falls flat. Fun to drive around town where you can keep it in the powerband. Even better on the highway.

If you look on autotrader, you see a whole slew of new tdi's for sale. I assume the dealers just never removed them when the stop sale went into effect. Don't assume you can actually buy one.

Thats what I thought. They still have new ones listed. Kind of glad I didn't buy one yet. Hoping this will lead to serious rebates after the emissions gets sorted out since dealers will have overstock of 2015's crowding their lot. Also Im interested to find out if we'll get the new'er EA288 which boasts the 190hp/280lb-ft numbers. That's some serious tq straight out of the factory. Heard they'll be in Europe this summer so maybe we won't see it until next year after the dust settles with the emissions and the epa. ::Fingers crossed::

Article I was reading about the EA288.

I wasn't assuming that I COULD buy one. Just curious as to why they would spend the time/money/effort to list all these cars that they can't sell until everything gets finalized. But i didn't think of the fact that they might be old ads. Good point!

You are thinking of the mk7 GTD that has been available in the EU for a few years now. I doubt it will ever make it's way over here, but simple tuning will put you in the same ballpark with the 150hp EA288. Add GTI brakes and VWR springs and you basically have a GTD. DAP can source the GTD badging and front fascia if you really want a clone.

Shucks! I was more interested in the extra power then the cosmetic differences. Also I misread the date on that article. Thought it said March 2nd of this year not 2012, oops!

Been stated elsewhere, but in the US, the 2016's TDIs were/are put on lock down at the ports, never made it to dealerships. 2015's TDIs are for sale (new and used), but not certified and not through VW authorized dealerships.

..any bets we wont ever see the 2016 TDIs released ? Its begining to look bleak. That would make the mk7 TDI a one year only. 5-10 yrs down tbe road body parts would be readily available in the salvage yards (common with gas model), but any TDI specific parts would be tough to find.

They'll be released. I'm frustrated by VW's slow response, but this is even more overblown than the Toyota UA mess. GM is releasing new diesel car and small truck platforms ready to meet the new emissions standards in 2017. Ford has a platform ready. Everybody else (merc/bmw) is still managing to build diesel product for the NA market. This will pass.

I can't remember if it was a Merc or BWM exec that commented last week, but his statement was to the effect of "We can't meet CO2 standards without passenger diesel." A whole bunch of panicky idiots are jumping to conclusions. Diesel isn't going anywhere for a long time, especially considering the massive issues the manufacturers are faced with trying to get gas direct injection engines able to meet the upcoming emissions regs. You will see a greater mix of fuel choices going forward, including diesel, as manufacturers need all they can get to meet the mandates.

Actually, we were at a lot in mass, and we saw a ton of 2016s on the back lot, but unsellable. I think a lot of 2016s are at dealers in the same situation. They're not all at the ports.

Going to be interesting to see what type of rebates these dealerships are going to be giving up once the dust settles. Feel sorry, especially for the small privately owned VW dealerships that have a lot of money wrapped up bc of this. But hopefully the dealerships are helping them out.

In Canada, at least, VW corporate suspended all payments due from dealers for TDI units sitting unsalable on their lots. Speaking to both the dealers I go to they were content with VW corporation's response at their level. I've noticed in the messages from VW regarding the whole diesel problem that the apologies include dealers and employees as well as the customers.

That's great they're not leaving them hi and dry but i wouldn't expect them to. They would have countless law suits on their hands if that was the case. Hopefully they can get something figured out. More parts and equipment that many ppl will just end up removing eventually if they decide to mod or tune their TDi's.

VWR springs will never be made for the North American TDI's. I checked into it. I have them on my R and love the ride. We are the only place that gets the torsion beam rear suspension in the GSW's. I am on the wait at the moment for the Eibach springs that should be out this month. And in looking at the specs my GSW will sit about the same ride height as my R. The only guy I know with the eibach's on a GSW said the ride is superb.

You mean these??

There's plenty of options now for the torsion rear mk7 Golf, including VWR.

FYI the 09-14 Jetta Sportwagens were built off of the Golf as well. It was a Jetta in name only for the US. The rest of the world they were named GSW.

I have VWR springs installed on my Mk7 TDI, is there a different set for the wagon?
