Hi everyone, I think it has been quite a while since we had a GTG. I was thinking before summer ends maybe we can plan something. This is not a GTG for free services such as timing belts and Intake cleanings, ect. We should all just meet for some food and drinks and good times. If I had a place to hold it I would. But I am willing to make a run to Costco for the hamburgers and hot dogs. Lets all GTG soon and talk diesel!!!! J

Thoughts on a venue

I've only just noticed this post, guys.
After Labor day, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk closes some of it's parking lots. Would that be an appealing venue? Close to the beach, lots of food and drink options (and a local Costco!).

None now. Former: 2011 335d, 2010 Jetta TDI, 2003 Jetta TDI Wagon. 99.5 Jetta TDI, 98 NB TDI, 3 different black 96 Passat TDI wagons.
When I get fully settled, I will try to organize something.

We could have it at my place which is accross the way from Tomas Sport Tuning! I am gone next week-end! How is Saturday October 14th as a tentative date? I might be in town for the week-end on the 7th! Santa Cruz could also be good and maybe meet in the AM and drive down through the mountains or HWY 1 if Fahrfromfueling (sp) is up to the idea! The other thing we could do is to have BBQ in a regional Park, either here in the East Bay, South Bay, Peninsula or Santa Cruz Mtn.

I'm down for a Santa Cruz GTG. Its been beautiful here lately, Indian summer finally arrived. It would be great if somebody could bring vagcom too, as my Jetta has never been hooked up, timing advanced etc. Anyone want to devirginize a 2001 Jetta?:)

I'm in, depending on the dates, and I have VAG-COM, but I only have the Hex-USB, (No CAN) so I can only VAG the pre-2006 cars.

Hi Folks,

I am a newbie here and definitely up for a GTG in Santa Cruz. I just bought my TDI the beginning of September. Let's nail down a date and get this GTG rollin'.

How's about early one Saturday morning out on the Wharf?
Plenty of parking space, breakfast supplies etc.
That leaves the selection of a date/time.
What about either 13th or 20th October?
I figure we could just hang for show an' tell, and see if there's enough demand for some specific activities in future.
I'll bring my VAG-COM.
Anyone got any other ideas?

Cheers

The 20th looks like a good date. Maybe we can take a vote on how that works. The boardwalk sounds great. Though, NewTdi has a warehouse in the eastbay. If any work needed to be done(oilchanges, vagcom, ect.) there would be plenty of room to do it, and since it is getting to late Oct. it might be a little warmer in the Eastbay. Its up to you guys.
Meeting spots>>
1.) Santa cruz beach boardwalk Parking Lot
2.) NewTdi(Andrews warehouse)

My calandar says the 20th is a Friday. I'm down for the 14th, as I said before I'll bring the tunes. The 21st is no good for me. Either location is ok although I prefer not to drive through the SC mountains after a roundtrip to SAC on Friday.

How about the SAC Water folks would someone like to invite them? I'd bet they would be more likely to come to something in San Pablo than SC.

I think a warehouse will be advantageous - looking to Vag-Com as well if aggiegrad can be there. it's about 60 F in Santa Cruz today, and rain may happen.. The 14th sounds good for me so far - I am in Sonoma Co. so Eastbay is mucho better. Looking forward to hsnging out and talking

My vote is for the Santa Cruz/Boardwalk hang out, vag com, advice, shoot the **** plan. The weather is currently 65 degrees, but who knows how it will be anywhere in the Bay Area on any given day. I can see the value of an indoor space if we actually want to do some wrenching. Both 10/14 and 10/21 work for me.

My vote is for a GTG at the Boardwalk or Wharf in Santa Cruz. It looks like the 14th is a good time for most folks. Who's in? Vag-com, hang out, we can talk mileage, mod's, and make some future plans for getting together for some wrenching.

Later in the month or maybe further out there is a timing belt changing party in the planning for the bay area gang. That might be an opportunity for another GTG.

If we meet on the wharf in the morning I can just about promise plenty of parking, and there is also hot chowder, fried calamari, and salt water taffy for the hungry.

If we do the boardwalk parking lot I know there is a mom and pop burrito and taco joint right next door that has great eats.

So how is Saturday October 14th in the morning?:)

Looks like I will definitely have my kids on the 14th. What do you guys think about Sunday the 22nd? I'd consider SC on that date. Unlikely I'll make the drive down on the 14th even though I'd like to be there.

I don't think kids and a TB GTG mix so I don't want to come to SP on the 14th if the main goal is to do TBs.

The 14th or the 22nd will work for me, let's get a consensus which date is best for the majority of folks that are up for driving to SC for a GTG.

I apologize for confusing the TB GTG with the Santa Cruz GTG, they are 2 different gigs. The TB GTG is still being hashed out on another thread, I am not sure which date they will choose since they still need a minimum of 7 cars to do before they nail down a date.

What we are talking about here is a GTG at the SC Boardwalk or Wharf for all interested. We can hang out and tdi talk and Vag-com and have some fun. So who is down for Santa Cruz?:)

I can bring my collectors edition DVD of "Herbie Goes Bananas" and I'll bake some TDI shaped sugar cookies for everyone. Maybe we can have a cookie frosting party at the pier. Joking aside, I vote for Santa Cruz on the 14th.
