97 Passat silver like the rest, 2005 B5.5 in dirty black, 2015 Passat Highline auto white.
Got mine 2 weeks ago (I ordered it maybe a week after it was announced), in red, highline, 6sp manual, sport, leather, everything except sat nav.

It drives excellent, and is everything I had anticipated the 05 Passat to be that turned out to be not so wonderful.
Picked up on the 15th, drove to Calgary and back on the 17th to break it in, and do some business, roughly 1700km. the onboard computer sez trip speed average was 110kph, fuel was 5.9 litres /100km. Had cruise set at 137 for most of the double lane stuff, the dash holds a radar detector very well, like it was designed for it. It's a very non-tiring car to drive, easy to stay alert, unlike some. It's also very quiet. very very quiet. Hardly any perception of speed either, so you really gotta watch that.
I'm happy.
The red is VERY dark, we were disappointed at first, expecting the color to be what was displayed on VW's launch site for the Passat, and turned out to be more burgundy than red, but it grows on you quickly.
Mine stalls easily. I intend to ***** to the guys at the shop about it, it's definitely not right, sure not tdi-ish. There has to be a fuel issue at low rpm, because there just seems to be no torque until it is a few hundred rpm off idle.
I'm not a fan of the pushbutton no key thing, easy to start the car for the wife on my way by (remote in my pocket), take off in mine, and leave her with no remote. It runs fine, drives fine, but don't stall it at a light, or you walk from there without a remote in your pocket. NOTHING in the car sez, "hey dummy, you have no remote along".
Other than that, it's been a nice purchase, roomy, comfortable for all passengers, not just the front ones.
From the long term perspective, it sure looks like it will be easier to work on than the last few. Stuff like fuel filter is out in the wide open, easy to grab and change.

2012 Passat - 6sp MT
Got mine on the 26th

I bought a Reflex Silver with Black interior with 6sp MT. I haven't driven it too much but very good so far in the limited time. Highway at 70 mph with just below 2000 RPMs. I feel like it has lots of power, comfortable seats and a good radio. I wish I could have upgraded to the Nav but will probably just get a Garmin stand alone unit. Still need to get the information screen setup correctly and change some of the bluetooth/phone settings.

Has anyone gotten a clear bra for their passat? If so how much?

The combination of TDI and MT appears to be a tough find. I stumbled upon this one while other dealerships were telling me to order and expect delivery around Christmas. Sounds like this was a pre-order with a customer changing their mind. :D

I owned an alh as well before I bought a new CR(same motor as in your new passat)....I am willing to to bet that your "stalling" issue will be a non issue with the dealer. These CRS are way more sensitive to thottle and accelerating at low speed and lugging along like you can in an alh. I have NEVER stalled a stick in year till this gen VW....you gotta stabb the throttle slightly and you WILL get used to it and dont try to lug along in 2nd gear at super low speed....it will stall. Keep revs up a bit and all will be good with the world and congrats on the new Ride....

It is interesting that I'm having 0 issues stalling this car, driving it just like any other stick I've ever owned, and for me it seems easier to drive relative to stalling potential. For me this is the nicest stick I've owned and I've owned a bunch.....Now my wife got home yesterday from driving it for the first time at length and said she stalled it 3 times, I don't get it, in any event she went back out for a drive and said she figured it out and did not stall again.

Platinum Gray....wasn't sure I would like it based on photos, but it is gorgeous in person, love it!
Congrats. Same color here. Platinum Gray with Moonrock interior. Mine is a DSG however... Wanted a 6 speed, but my wife although she can drive a stick does not like to unless necessary and I wanted to get something she was comfortable with so I can feel more free to take out her Tiguan once in a while...

Also to answer a question asked earlier, mine turns 2200 RPM's at 70 MPH with DSG...

I turned 1600 miles yesterday and with approx 50/50 city highway mix I am getting a little over 40 MPG. Not bad for a new engine, a lot better than my MKV Jetta that it replaced (CR 2.0 TDI with 6 manual).

PS, Andy I really like the blue color...

My 6 speed manual looks like it is around 1925-1950 RPM's at 70mph. Mine has the Moonrock Gray interior as well, probably would have preferred the black interior but the Mooonrock is nice too. I understand about the wife and sticks, my Golf was a DSG, convinced her to go with the manual on this one, she seems to be comfortable now that she has had a chance to drive it a bit this weekend. I really love the stick shift on this car, surprised actually as I prefer it to the DSG. The hill assist braking is very cool, takes away any worries on steep inclines, holds perfectly until you release the clutch.

This stalling issue is contrary to the answer I got a few posts back about being able to idle along in 2nd...
So which is it guys?

Obviously different thoughts/experiences here. I haven't had mine very long, but I have yet to stall it, and haven't found situations where I thought I was close to doing so..... and I have had it in 2nd gear at low RPM's(no throttle) crawling along in a parking lot without stalling, maybe things will change but for me I don't have to do anything different to drive this manual, it really is a very easy drive.

Re: stalling
I've driven literally everything, trucks, tractors, cars, cats, track hoes... This is the easiest to stall vehicle I've driven. The dealer may very well consider it to be a non-issue, but since it goes in for undercoat this week, we'll see if there is any sensitivity adjustment either on throttle input, or governor sensitivity. I suspect that at times, the hill hold feature is screwing me up- brake staying on as the clutch is coming on, and killing it. Letting the clutch off it will pull like a trooper, just every now and again, it seems like the governor forgets to govern and it stalls flat like it was driven by a noob, no bucking, no vain attempts to torque up, just falls on it's face like a gasser can.
Yes, manual cars are rare. Dealer in Stoon where I got it told me it is for sure the only red 6 speed in Saskatchewan. I've just had so much better results from manual trans in the long haul I figured it was worth it.

Oddly enough, it rolls off the start like a normal tdi, just every now and again it's like the injected quantity of fuel lags behind what is needed.
And thanks, I'm liking it quite a bit...

I guess I'm the lucky one, I haven't had any of the stalling issues you guys mentioned, hope mine never goes there as she is perfect right now. I was messing around this morning trying to push it to stall, no stalls, other than doing things that would typically stall a vehicle, I can't stall this one.

I was at my local dealer Saturday picking up my new Golf and talked with the owner about Passat TDI availability: he says it's difficult, and the manual transmission cars are even more difficult. He said they've only sold two gassers so far, all the rest are TDIs.

curious....why the undercoat? My 7 yr old Jetta was virtually like new when I looked underneath after 7 yrs...except to be honest for a few bolts and a couple of exhaust brackets...panels were perfect as well....you did get a 12 yr perforation warranty as you know.

I suspect the stall issue may involve the clutch grab adjustment or worse yet, an errant electronic intervention...

it's the way they are...takes a couple of days and you get more precise with the engagement and revs that will stall it.....easy peasy

Is there a Media-In for the SE-TDI? The instructions for this radio mention it would be in the armrest or storage compartment. I don't see it...I know in the test models, it was in the armrest.

I've stalled mine a few times, but only because I'm not used to the hill holder. That is a strange (but I do admit handy) feature.

As far as availability, this one is not for sale http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volk...4094688?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1e6803be60 as it is my car! Dealer apparently uses this as advertising, and you can't actually "Buy it now". Ours was a pre-order and never available.

Salesman was baffled as well! Actually had a great experience with the dealership and they were east to deal with. That was the only odd thing.

Ours returned 51.5 mpg on the 3 1/2 hour drive home. 30 minutes of that in stop and go traffic and the rest with the cruise set to 70. I could get used to this.....

Yes, there is a basic AUX-in located under the armrest along with a 12v outlet.

We live on gravel roads. No undercoating equates to no underbody paint behind the wheels etc... The plan is to keep this one for a good while.
Had it on a lift, I was impressed and distressed by the amount of underbody airflow management (impressed), which is in molded plastic panels (unimpressed) that erode over time. The undercoating makes it quieter, and cuts down on the missing paint, and future rust. Ya know, I keep hearing about this perforation warranty of 12 years. If it's any good, I'll have this one longer than that. My 97 Passat really just started to show rust this year, still surface stuff, but I keep cars longer than the average joe if they don't suck.

Mine also has an ipod connection in the center console armrest. You plug in the pod, and control it with the steering wheel controls for the stereo. Maybe only available on the fender stereo, dunno.

I just took a new Passat TDI for a test drive at the dealership. It was the premium interior with DSG, leather seats, etc. VERY nice driving car. Quiet (even quieter than my '09), solid, smooth. The seat was possibly more comfortable than my Jetta and I really like my seats. Plenty of room (I sat in the back, too, and I'm 6' 3" and my knees were not touching the back of the seat). It was a short drive but I got in a few good accelerations and sharp curves. I'm impressed. They were asking $32k.

Do we have to worry about the fuel injection recalls on the new Passats or are they already taken care off from the dealerships?

Passat and G/J/JSW have different fuel injectors, fuel lines, etc. Jetta:

Passat:

Not the exact same angle I know, but totally different orientation. In the Passat, the #2 injector comes off the fuel rail before the #3 does. I doubt they would both have the same resonance problem.
