Hello guys, I'm having a very big issue.

I cannot seem to put the rear hatch back on properly.

My old one rusted to hell.

So now I bought another one of a junkyard car (boot was perfectly fitted on that car).

And I cannot for the life of me adjust it without big gaps on either side.

I have the struts mounted if that means anything...

I hate how it looks.

Any advice how to put it correctly on?

It even latches without a problem...

Adjustments are made with the bolts on the hinges. Remember there are bolt that hold the hinge to the car body and bolts that hold the hinge to the lid. You will likely need to move the set of bolts you have not touched yet. It does take some fiddling to get the lid straight and closing properly. The latch can also be adjusted slightly.

I put a new lid on my golf about a year ago for the same reason. Fortunately mine fit pretty easily.

Yeah - I'd try to get it aligned properly *without* the hatch struts installed - they apply a LOT of upward force which can make it challenging to move things around. (Having an extra set of hands available to hold the hatch up while you wrangle the bolts is very helpful. :) )
