And I can say sincerely that I wish you the best of luck. I don't care how it works out, just as long as you keep the story coming . . .
Ditto.

I do enjoy reading about what you are doing.

Interesting work so far. Pistons look cool. Are you going big valve? Or will you rely mostly on cam?

I designed custom valve, springs, and titanium retainers, with a single more reliable single bead lock. The cam is .475 lift and 232 intake duration and .425 exhaust lift, with 215 duration.
The head picked up 80% at .450 lift over stock.
I’m pushing to get it together for next weeks hill climb, but it’s getting close, the roll cage is being stitched up.

The pistons forgings are in production now, and can be ordered with any bore, compression height, ring package and any top design. With tool steel pin, and total seal rings the cost is going to be around $550 a set
I recently worked with one of the American rods manufactures to come up with a lighter, stronger rods for the TDI , they told me that the rods will be available for about $400 a set with the good ARP bolts.

So a lot of good things are coming for the TDI world , if any one would like to listen to the pod cast , I spent a hour on MotorTrend Radio talking about diesel motorsports , and the future of TDI performance , a few weeks ago. I am on the show every few weeks

COMP461,

I have enjoyed reading your thread but I have some questions:

1.) What are you setting the injection break pressures and timing degree at?

2.) Are you going to reduce the compression ratio from stock?

3.) What made you decide to use an automatic transmission instead of something like a DSG?

Thanks

COMP461,

you will have to ask Charlie at Kerma

2.) Are you going to reduce the compression ratio from stock?

the compression is 16.5 to one , trying to have a 400 hp engine requires a little reduction in compression

3.) What made you decide to use an automatic transmission instead of something like a DSG?

I have given up on a VW auto, for now. I have a dog clutch manual to try , it means flat froor shifting at full throttle, and no clutch .

Thanks
as far as the pistons , the picture looks worse then its is , its the light . the new forgings are clearanced for the oiler,
