Yea I know about the trans issues, going to swap in a 5sp down the road. Getting p0704 TCC code which isn't bothering me, torque converter clutch isn't locking up for whatever reason.
Was wondering how much slippage there is now, at 65mph the rpms are at 2500.

What should the rpms be at 65-70mph?

Previous owner had the trans rebuilt @60,000 miles ago. The owner before him also had the trans rebuilt - sad to say that one only lasted 7,000 miles.

you should look into having/buying a rebuilt Lower Valve body bought and installed. its a unit/sensors pack that tells the transmission when to shift. apparently these had issues oem on the original parts. If you install a rebuilt valve body, that should clear up a lot of the problems.

2500 is about right but that also means the TC is locked up. If the first trans only lasted 7K, time to find a new rebuilder. :(

I run about the same on my 01. It's got 215k on it so I think you're in good shape. But I have trouble with my TC not locking on long trips.

Well that is good news on the rpm. I'll swap the fluid & filter, add a shift kit and external cooler and monitor the line pressure for a while. Now if I can resist the urge of running full line pressure all the time.

You don't need full line pressure, I did 2-3 turns, made a difference but not enough where its harsh and annoying. The shift kit works great, I found the TC kicked in earlier which is better for trans life and mpg.

Did you use the Transgo kit?
Yep and it comes with the harness remover tool as a bonus,

Mine had 360K on it so I bought a new ribbon harness too, figured I'm in there, might as well.

I looked up Rostra Precision Components, maker of the trans harness, hoping it isn't a Chinese knockoff company. Well it is nice to see some things are still made in the USA according to their website.

What is your opinion of their product?

Rostra is fine.
