I purchased two great books at Barnes and Noble last week about VW Performance. Although neither book concerns Diesel VW's in particular, they both cover all aspects of performance and handling in the A1, A2, A3, and A4's.

Both books are good, Per Schroeder lives in the Chicago area and is active in the Autocross cirucits. Check 'em out if you are interested.

Thanks, SkyPup. I just ordered the Bentley Manual for my NB from Amazon.com. They have it on sale for $39.95 US. It's not yet available from the publisher, according to them, but they'll ship it as soon as it shows up in their warehouse. I'll bet that's a lot cheaper than a VW dealer would charge!

I spoke to the guy at the Bentley order desk this morning and the NB edition is due to be shipped the first week in June, the others are ready now.

Just received the new A3 manual from Bentley and the Turbo one too, both are real good. The turbo one is specifically for someone technically interested in installing a turbo on a gas engine, no diesel info at all, however the basic principles are the same.
The A3 manual is superb, good sections on the 96,97,98, and early 99 TDI engine and electronics, also a special section on the turbo too. Another VW diesel engine, not TDI, that was delivered in Canada only is also covered indepth.
Hope to receive the NB TDI manual next week when they are first released
