Hi I’ve got a pd tdi golf 2008 car starts first time ,no smoke from exhaust, problem I have is tapping / ticking noise sounds like top end of engine noise is there all the timeI’ve done some road tests going down a long road at around 40 mph letting my foot off accelerator completely but leaving car in gear with clutch out noise still present as I under stand this turns fuel off to injectors to save fuel so I’m ruling out diesel knock? However doing the same test again leaving car in gear and clutch out but then turning ignition off again this kills fuel to injectors noise then has completely disappeared So my question is why does noise disappear when ignition is tuned off ?
