1.9 TDi match
I have no mechanical experience so please bear that in mind. We’ve had our Golf 1.9 TDi match for 21 years, the car never let us down for 19 years but in the past 20 months or so we’ve had Injector problems. Car went into limp mode whilst we were away from home and diagnosis was no 1 injector. Authorised garage (not local) to change 1 and 3 injectors. Car was fine for around 4 months then started to be erratic when accelerating. Eventually, it conked out whilst accelerating hard to avoid another car but no error code. Local garage looked at the car and said one of the recent injectors was throwing up errors and one of the remaining injectors was also throwing up issues. Another 2 injectors changed (1 of the newish ones and 1 of the last 2 originals). So now have 3 new injectors. Car is 90% better. Only issue is when I accelerate hard, when overtaking or coming out of a junction quickly. Feels like it’s miss firing. The car pulls back a little. Gentle driving - plenty of poke, torque and no hesitancy. Garage admits they are not pd specialists and have offered to continue to tweak the injectors to get to the sweet spot but we have already spent too much on the car in the last 2 years.
New clutch, 3 injectors & labour so we are currently resigned to live with it.

I don’t know how hard it is to fine tune pd injectors ? We live in West Sussex, the car has done 160,000 and is rust free. I’m told the camshaft is good.
Does anyone know a garage who could tune the injectors in their sleep ? Who do this day in day out ?
Thank you.

PD injectors require a very different tool set vs the earlier VE pump engines. Over here, I know of no decent folk who resemble 'inexpensive' on PD injector work. Do look up Darkside Development, they should be *RELATIVELY nearby( at least comparatively to me at the moment...LOL ). Also PowerTDI in Poland seems to be a supplier of rebuilt PD pump bodies. Google will take you right to 'Power TDI' if you ask... :)

Did you replace the wiring harness? Lift pump working? New or used injectors? Brand if new?

I don’t think the wiring harness was changed and I don’t know the make of the new injectors other than they cost £260 each. Original VW injectors were £960 each and unfortunately I wasn’t going to spend £4K on injectors on a 20 year old car. Guess I’ll accept gentle acceleration is the way forward. Thanks for responding.
