I asked this question in a related post but it was not addressed so I am breaking it out to see what people think.

It seems there 3 ways to address the PCV problem in its propensity to gum up the IC.
1. Plug the intake side and use a catch can or other device to collect the oil/vapors.
2. Keep the system closed but insert a device to scrub the oil out.
3. Clean Intercooler every 15,000 or more.

I am curious if there is a 4th option. Can the system be diverted to send vapors after the IC instead of in front of it?

Even after the intercooler, if the egr is working then with the moisture and oil vapors combining with the soot from the egr, will form the dreaded gunk in the intake and on the egr valve.

The Crank Case vapors are currently piped in BEFORE the turbocharger compressor. This SUCKS the vapors out of the crankcase.

If you hooked up to the intercooler side, it will pump high pressure air into the crankcase. I don't think that this would be a good idea. Don't you agree?

I too was under the impression that the TDI does not make a vacuum. I have yet to hook up my guage to check but the guage I bought reads 0-30 psi anyway as I remember a post by Skypup stating he never read any vacuum.
Anyways it was a bad idea.

I just took a length of pipe from valve cover around front of engine to the floor pan. All i get is a small amount of oil on the floor pan after 7000 mile or so but nothing worth worrying about. I just wipe the floor pan clean after servicing. Now on 85000 with no problems just plenty of clean power....
