1-Instruments / 2-Adaptation / 3-(Drop down menu) Distance Impulse Meter / 4- Was set to "3", I changed it to "4" / 5- Save & Exit (Also FYI, this is with stock tires & rims with recommended inflation pressure)
What direction did that move the dial? I am showing consistently about 2 MPH faster than I'm actually going, confirmed with both my TomTom and the roadside radar signs. Going down Lake Tapps Parkway towards SR-167 I'm always showing 2 MPH faster than the radar sign.

Moving the selection from "3" to "4" made the dials read slower and closer to my actual speed. My gauges were the same as yours; reading 2-3 MPH faster than I was actually going. I confirmed this with multiple radar signs as well as iphone app & Garmin GPS.

After adjusting the setting from "3" to "4" it has corrected my speedometer within 1MPH of what I'm actually doing (still showing a little fast though, better than the previous 2-3 MPH offset though), I may try adjusting the setting up another notch to "5" and see if that does the trick.

Thanks. My primary laptop conked out on me, and my other one testing Windows 10 is also having issues. I'll tackle that as soon as I get one of them running again :)

I was in the same boat until about a week ago, finally broke down and bought a windows laptop, cheap one ($330) but it does the job! More than likely I will hook up VCDS this weekend and adjust the speed settings to see if I can improve the accuracy, l'll keep ya posted.

Just Run 8.1 with ClassicShell. Best of both worlds, and stable. 10 is in no way ready to be most people's Primary OS. It is still buggy as hell!

I programmed in the rain sensor some weeks back and was working great..but after my car was at the dealer for a defective Immo/steering lock module...(so they say...I received the old one) today is a rainy one in the big smoke...neither my rain sensor or the wiper delay modes were working...when I got home I checked the long coding and it was unchanged...just like it says here...rain sensing..

I disabled the rain sensing and the delay started working...then I reprogrammed it for the rain sensing, and it too worked.....

Happy now, as this is one of the most useful features...also I love the Monoprice 32' USB 2.0 amplified extension cable... for $16, my balcony overlooks the driveway...I can string the cable to the car and do my diagnosis from the dining table inside...and observe any changes I made, play out, if applicable...like today, the wipers.

cheers
sam

Question -

-Is anyone else experiencing this - With the car locked, I hit unlock via the remote and the car unlocks (I've tried without the key FOB near the car so KESSY won't work). Without opening a door, after about 30 seconds the car locks again. Tested multiple times.

I'm wondering if it's like this stock or if I unknowingly made a change in VCDS?

Anyone know which change could have enabled this? Maybe the sunroof & windows up/down with KESSY? This is happening on a 2014 Passat TDI SE with SR&NAV w/ KESSEY. Thanks.

I believe this is a factory setting. It's meant for situations where you unintentionally unlocked the car who knowing it. My previous Toyota Prius's did it too, and I recall my Honda Accord before that did it as well.

Funny- I noticed this "auto-lock" behavior the other day, quite by accident. I believe there must be a setting you can change in the MFI because my car does this from one key but not the other.

this is normal as mentioned by others..It is in the user's manual..Both my 04 and 12 do it.
but as you stated it only re locks the doors if you have not entered (opened a door)the vehicle...

Yep, my '11 Tiguan would re-lock as well if the door wasn't opened. Factory behavior.

Are you sure ? I did not think there were separate profiles for each remote..
I thought the remotes' purpose was limited to start and drive the car(RF id chip) in addition to the functions of the physical buttons...Kessy or not.

No, so some limited things can be customized per remote. For example you can set one remote to "toot" the horn on locking and the other remote not do it. I startled myself one day when parking after having driven using my "spare" key. :)

Rain sensor question

I've made the changes, so how does this work? Where do I set the wiper function so that the rain sensor to start working, automatically? My previous 2001 Passat you had to set the wiper function, can't remember.
I guess the manual may have some info on this.

However, if anyone has any input to share?

Has anyone made any changes to the enable the IPOD, MP3, etc?

Getting ready for a road trip, and where I live very little rain to test if the changes I made work. Would like to ensure it works prior to hitting the road.

Thanks,
Gothic.

2013 Passat, mine works when you put the wiper control in 'Intermittent'.

You can pour water on the sensor to test.....

The wiper delay position becomes your auto wipers....no more wiper delay..
On mine I had to increase the sensitivity as the normal was not doing it for me...waiting for some rain...to test it.

How to check for DEF level on passat using vcds?

I saw this somewhere but didn't bookmark the Page!

Update: Looks like I found the webpage that mentions this.

Engine -> Advanced Measuring Values -> 98-0:Sensor for reducing agent fill level
Had a little trouble find the level/
I believe the value should be 498.
Anyway, it is in the list. I just looked for "Sensor for reducing agent fill"

Here's the list of tweaks I plan on doing on my '15 Passat 1.8TSI as soon as I can get my hands on an RT cable:

- Comfort blinker (change to 4 or 5)
- Windows and sunroof comfort with key fob
- Indicator celebration (needle sweep)
- Mirror lowering when reversing (curb convenience). (HL only?)
- Disable DRL with turn signal
- Emergency ABS light flashing
- Retention of driver's seat heater level
- Rain closing
- Disable Hill hold assist
- Seatbelt chime - you can have that pleasent chime by going to 17-Instruments->Adaptation->Seat Belt Warning - Version 3

I'm actually brand new to VW. Just got my '15 Passat about a month ago and looking to make all these changes but it seems most of the posts on here are from the US so they make reference to the SE, SEL or TDI models so I'm not sure exactly what that translates to when compared with the Canadian models.

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Basically you have 3 options..
1) EBay cable with Vcds Lite unregistered....very limited functionality for older cars
2) Register your copy of Vcds for U$ 99 and you get more functionality
3) Get the Ross tech Cable for U$ 349 (minus 99 if you have registered the Lite.

In my case I first purchased the cable on ebay and used the Lite, and that gave me more access than OBD II, I only had 04 Jetta, then I registered it and I could do more...but when I purchased the 12 NMS, I upgraded to the HEX-Can cable for another U$249, add to that U$ 48 shipping to Canada,
Plus C$ 50 for customs Canada.

With the HEX-CAN cable I can do both cars, if you have a newer car, the EBay cable may not work...go to Ross tech site for more info on what works on which car, and decide.

Since you have a 2013, no need for the HexCan - you can run the MicroCAN only cable and save a hundred bucks ($249 vs $349), and can upgrade for minimal cost moving forward, should you at some point end up with an older VW requiring the obsolete K line interface.

Was wondering if this is possible with the Passat. EDITED to add....it is...it is :)

KESSY: Lock Car While Running
Description: this allows you to to start your car with KESSY, then get out with the key, and lock the car with the remote
Check bit 2 of byte 4 in Central Electronics Long Coding Helper

Wiper control position for rain sensor

I want to make sure that I have positioned my wiper control in the correct position, which I currently have it in the intermittent position (between the off and lower position).
Please see image.
Thanks,
