Passat lowering and wheel/tire thread

Just got 2014 premium Passat TDI. Looking to get lowering springs.
I’m new to VW. Which springs are the “go to”? Looking to drop 1”-1.5”

Wheels. Looking to put 19’s using 235/40/19
I’d prefer to keep width at 8.5” wheel but saw staggered as option?

Anything I need to prepare for or additional prep on the suspension aspect?

I’m currently looking at H & R springs ... seem decent but looking for feedback.

I stopped with suspension mods at an H&R rear sway bar, it met my needs with minor draw backs even in the snow.

From my experience with H&R sways I have zero complaints and wouldn't think twice about their springs.

I'd also suggest getting new dampeners, Bilstiens or Konis.

I had the H&R Sport springs on my 2013 Passat with H&R Cup Kit dampers along with 20x8.5 TSW's on 225/35-20 Continental rubber.

The ride was certainly firmer than stock, but not terrible at all. I actually loved it and wish I could put it back on my 2015, but I drive my dad around too much and he can't handle getting in and out of lowered cars anymore.

Yeah I’m back n forth on either 18’s or 19’s. I figure more sidewall will help with the ride comfort. But so far the H and R springs seem to be a go.
I’ll def look into the damp eta etc. thanks!! Car looked good btw in your pics.

I ran H&R sports on my ‘14 Passat with KYB on the rear, Bilsteins up front on 18’s. It handled great but a tad bouncy when hitting a dip at highway speeds. I’m running the same springs now on my jetta wagen but with KYB on the rears and Gabriel up front on 16’s and it’s a lot less bouncy, might be a weight difference

For what it's worth, I can confirm you can up the sidewalls, and 27" diameter will fit. I'm running 215-65-16 (winters) with zero issues.

The extra sidewall will also help out tame a stiffer suspension.

Nope stock ride height, from my experience it's not the top of the fenders that limit the clearance but the rockers when turning lock to lock up front where you'd have rub.
