Passat injection timing after belt change

Changed the timing belt and the timing was advanced above the specified range. I retarded the timing a little by rotating the injection pump. Timing is now 65 and 100, in the middle of the advanced band. Then I checked the specified start of injection and actual start. Specified start should be between 2 and -3, but now it cycles between early and late. Actual start should be between 2 and -3, but it's between 3.7 and 7.9 When specified reads late, actual is 4.2 and when specified is early, actual is 7.7 Before the timing belt change specified inj start and actual start were within spec. My guess is I'm a tooth too advanced on the injection pump. Somehow I rotated it one tooth counterclockwise. Does that make sense? Remedy is to turn the inj pump sprocket on tooth clockwise and then reset the timing?

If I were you I would recheck everything by setting the crank at TDC (by the mark on the flywheel), the Cam at TDC using the setting bar and using the pin in the pump. Then loosen the cam sprocket to reset it if it's off.

Good Luck

You should be checking the specified and actual start of injection in the Measuring Blocks, NOT in Basic Settings.

I know the crank and cam are on TDC and the car runs great. I also thought the inj pump was on TDC.

Basic settings timing is 63 and 100
Measuring block 004 specified start inj 3.1
" " " actual start inj 2.9

Looks like it's ok.
