Is your car a PD? Approximately what year was it built in?

Welcome aboard!

It's not grade-specific, you need to run a 505.01 oil. 5W40 is preferred. 5W30 (505.01) seems to be the latest offering from many mfrs.

thanks for your opinion dieseldorf,
i was looking to purchase MOBIL ESP 5w30, but since my local store doesnt have MOBIL ESP 5w40 i think i will use MILLERS XFF 5w40 instead.

And that meets the VAG 505.01 quality standard required in the PD lump?

XFE-PD 5w40
ACEA B3
API CF
VW 505.00, 505.01
Ford M2C 917A

What do you think?

I think the lads generally like the Millers products. Why won't you be happy with it?

We really have no idea what products are readily available to you unless you can get another UK brother to add his thoughts.

The mfr's oil spec dictates a high quality litre of oil. I hope you can find some comfort in that.

Cheers!

Dieseldorf has sorted it for you already, but as to the choice of alternatives, you could try Opie oils. I've bought from them several times, and they have quite a range. As for "better", no-one really knows, IMHO, despite the enthusiasm on here for seeking the holy grail:)
