I have a 2010 Jetta TDI sedan that just came up with the P2015 error code.
What are the consequences of driving it with this problem if I need to wait before purchasing and doing the mod? Is it a performance issue for the most part?
Thank you,
DaveyT

You can drive it with the P2015 code with no discernible performance loss. I personally think that if you run with a P2015 code for a longer time that there might be some negative effects to the exhaust after treatment system but I have not been able to confirm it.

I'm going to have the mod done within the next two months. Do you think this may be an issue resolved by the dealer at that time?

A dealer would be happy to "resolve" a P2015 fault code today - for about $1000 - for a new intake manifold. Dealerships have no interest in quick/easy/cheap fixes. If you plan to keep your car, buy and install the DG fix bracket. If you are waiting for VW to buy your car back, just drive it and ignore the CEL (as long as it is only a P2015).

My dealer was at $2000 in parts and hadn't even added in the labour - I told him to stop, just stop!

I installed the DG P2015 Bracket (easiest install ever!) this weekend and keeping my fingers crossed the light goes out as expected over the next few days of the wife driving it.

Update: Hopped in to run to the store last night and the MIL was off!!

A big thanks to Jim & DG!

I just ordered the bracket, it's going to be a cold 15 minutes outside installing it.

Add me to the list, of DieselGeek Pw2015 repair customers. (111431 miles, 2010, jsw) It took about 30 mins to install, an easy repair. I did buy some fishing forceps at wamart, $2.50, to aid the spring during removal. After install my VCDS block 121 measurement is .532 V, I'm not seeing the .760V after the fix. Is that acceptable or should I fiddle with the bracket? (it's secure now, and fit tightly. Before I was at .380V, so It made an improvement and I feel (fingers crossed) it will keep me from having this issue again! Thx!

Robert,

I would not worry too much about what your voltages are if the code has cleared. Sounds like you are within the acceptable range.

I'll bump it again.

Where can a person find used linkage arms? Not the intake flapper rod itself. The cheap ****ty plastic dog bone link.

Got the DieselGeek repair piece installed but on start up now I'm getting a P2004/P2006 code. The P2015 didn't come back and I can see the motor moving the arm on startup.

Any ideas?

P2004 and P2006 means that either the big end or little end of the plastic linkage arm has come off or it is in the process of coming off of the forward plastic motor ball or the rearward metal linkage arm for the throttle butterflies. We have a fix for it if it is coming off the distal small metal ball. Email me at jimatdieselgeekdotcom. a good clear pic helps, too. If the forward big end is popped off the ball then just pop it back on and see what happens.

Thanks for tips.

When I re-assembled it, it the arm seemed to be on, although it was a real challenge it get it back together. The smaller rearward side of the arm never came off, so I'm hoping it's fine.
The larger forward side of the arm is attached, but maybe its not on enough?
I'll try and get some pictures for you.

Of course I will do both
Let wait for a bit warmer weather?
I am also surprise that fuel economy is improved if this flap isnt working
Go figure

good plan. it does get a bit chilly, but it is a quick job.
yes, the fuel economy thing puzzles me too.

anyone know where to get a linkage replacement used? the garbage dog bone link...

anyone?

the bracket is holding the arm, but the linkage ball socket is so worn it won't stay on anymore!

Got the code the first time back when 2 years maybe and install dieselgeek's do hicky and worked great.
Code again but now the small arm at the ball and socket end keeps poping coming off.
Got a brand new plastic arm will try that and if need be a E clip like on the first page of this thread.
Speaking of the E clip how is it holding up?

You shouldn't ever use an e-clip since they don't help anything. With a new plastic arm you won't need to do anything else but install it.

Where are these new plastic arms found that people speak of? Link? Phone #? Address? Part #? Anything?

Hi - First post! I came across this from my own P2015 error on my 2009 Jetta TDI. I am also one of the not mechanically inclined however I am willing to learn :)

First thing I did from reading this thread was order the bracket from Diesel Geek. It is currently in the mail. I may have jumped the gun on ordering that part though as I am concerned my motor may be dead.

My troubleshooting so far:
When I turn on the engine or turn the key to power, the motor does not move at all. When in idle or reving in neutral, the motor does not move at all. Could this point to it being burned out?
I have done some voltage tests, but I am not sure if I did it correctly because the power cable has 5 or 6 pins? (I did it quickly over lunch) A couple pins had jumping around readings up to 12v, one had a steady 5v reading, and one had a 0v reading (I think it was like 2 milliamps). I will test again after more research on which pins to test.

After reading this thread more thoroughly (up to page 8) I see that the 'dead' motor symptom will most likely be resolved once I install the bracket and clear the P2015 code. Stay tuned! I am not sure when the bracket will arrive however as I am in Canada and only ordered it a couple nights ago.

Install the bracket and the code should go away, if not immediately then within a couple of days. Your flapper motor is fine. It's just turned off right now.

Got the P2015 engine light too and ordered from DieselGeek.

Crossing my fingers that the bracket will fix it becaues my state inspection is a few weeks away.

I should have removed the bracket before I turned in the TDI for the buyback and given it to one of the folks here. Oh, well.....

Update:
I received the bracket and went to install. I was armed with my T30 screw driver and forceps. I was stumped immediately as I was unable to get an angle on the three screws due to some air intake tubing. I had to remove the tubing before I could unscrew the v120 motor. See this video for how to remove the tubing (please note you don't need to remove the entire air box, but this video shows you how to get the tubing out that I speak of) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4nGp5lSGa4

After install I cycled the engine a couple of times, and then went for a drive. 20 mins into the drive I pulled over and shut down and restarted the engine. Boom - engine light gone! I don't have VCDS to see voltage ratings.

Thanks to everyone in this thread and to Jim for producing the bracket!
