Does this look like it might be a DPF dying? I'm guessing I'll have to take it to a stealership because I can clear the code but it comes back. Are DPFs still on galactic backorder or are there some stock now?

Thanks in advanced for any advise or info you can offer.

got the sooty pipes?

make sure you have them look at the condition of the EGR (low side) too if you take it to the dealer.

pipes were a little sooty before the code.

UPDATE: I cleared the code on Friday, didn't drive it on the weekend, drove to work today and no code. We'll see what the rest of the week brings. I'm sure it'll come back.

In both cases, the MIL was ON, which prompted the scans. After scanning (and before clearing DTCs), the MIL was OFF. Our extended emission warranty is valid for another 7 k miles / 8 months. My understanding is that the warranty kicks in when the MIL is ON (and stays on). So far, we haven't seen this behavior from the MIL (i.e., comes on and stays on after multiple engine start/stop cycles).

In our case, the MIL comes on, but doesn't stay on (although the related DTCs are saved). I suppose if we had only a few weeks left (or a few hundred miles) left in the extended warranty, I'd bring it around to the local dealer anyway and have them look at the ECM fault codes through ODIS...

And so the MIL has been a few days now due to the codes posted above. Earliest date the local VW dealer service department can look at the car is in 3 weeks (!) and the next nearest dealer is an hour away. Guess I won't be clearing any ECM codes anytime soon. Smh...

I have an '11 Sportwagen 6MT. 154K miles.

Got a CEL last night. Had the codes read at AZ this morning. P2002.

Plugging in the scanner cleared the CEL. Hasn't come back yet, but it's only been driven maybe 25 miles.

I was under the impression that I am off warranty, but after reading this thread. maybe not.

Bought it April 2019 with 55K miles.

Mine just popped on last week I scanned the code and cleared it, it came on again and cleared it, but 3rd time is the charm it goes in next week. I hope they can fix it under the warranty and it doesn't take months like the pano roof was.

Dealer told me that I should take it for a 45 minute drive because that's what they would do. I told them I did. I had to cancel the appointment cause life. I decided to take it for another 45 - 60 minute drive. This time I went about 70 mph in 4th gear to keep the rpms about 2800. Light stayed off for a couple days and now back on.

I guess I'll need to make another appointment soon...

Same here -- MIL off for about a month, then came on yesterday. P2002 fault frequency increasing from the original event (I haven't cleared the original DTCs). Planning a road trip east next week (1K+ miles round), if the MIL is still on when we get there, we'll try scheduling another service appointment.

Mine always seem to come on two days after I clear the DTCs. Actually the last time I checked, I had a "P0401 - 001 - Insufficient Flow" on the EGR. The light is on again. If I take it in, I want it to have both fault codes.

I have been getting this code AND P0401 (EGR Insufficient Flow). Soot in the taipipe. I also got a P048C (Exhaust Flap). The dealers says "You have an aftermarket air filter, drive it for a regen...we will do it for 350 ameros. I said the filter is OEM and I will drive it (this is clearly not the issue but I will to fulfill their "cure"). They also said...NO WARRANTY give us $145 thank you. I am in a quandary right now and thinking to learn to log soot levels, force a regen and contact other dealers. This dealer wants to know why I didn't buy this car from them in the first place.
