Hi I’m a new Jetta owner I have a 06 Jetta with the BRM I have a p0299 code and I’m trying to figure out how to fix it I was hoping someone would have any ideas on what could be causing this. The obd2 scanner I have says it’s a boost pressure regulation issue and I’m trying to figure out what could cause that.

The turbo boost control is operated via vacuum generated by the vacuum pump that is piggybacked to the fuel pump on the driver's side of the cylinder head. Its also known as the tandem pump.

It would not be unusual for the turbo actuator diaphragm to have a leak.
or as the above Ross tech link states - the vacuum reservoir in the valve cover could be leaking.
First check you could do is to see if the turbo actuator rod moves full stroke downward when the engine is first turned on and at idle speed.
That would then be set to full boost position.

Do you have the means to clear fault codes with your scanner? You may have to clear the fault code before the ECU allows the turbo to generate boost. This is also determined by the actuator's position sensor.
Do you have a MityVac with a vac gauge so that you can test the vacuum components?

I will try and get a mityvac to test the vacuum components I will also check the actuator to see if that’s the issue

The low power / limp mode thread linked in my sig has pretty good step-by-step instructions on how to troubleshoot boost issues.

what is your sig I feel dumb for asking but I’m new to the forum things
It is at the bottom of his posts and the one in particular that he is referring to is this:

Canadian Grizzly's excellent low-power/limp mode troubleshooting guide

The problem here is that the above is not specifically for your model engine so some things will differ.
One major difference is that the turbo actuator has a position sensor that communicates with the ECU where the ALH engine does not.

Give it a read and see how much makes sense to you.
There may be a BRM trouble shooting guide on these forums somewhere but I've not run into it.
You might try searching on Youtube like: "troubleshooting boost issues on BRM engine"

What you are asking for is a course on how turbo is controlled on an MK5 PD TDI car.
The BRM definitely has its share of common boost issues so I would be surprised if something did not turn up.
or
Someone might chime in here and present such a thread on the TDIclub forums.

😂 I would never ask what cold air intake to buy I’m actually trying to get a stock intake for my car because the guy before me put one of those cheap cold air intake kits on it. So if anybody also knows what the stock intakes part code is that would be awesome.

Here's a diagram showing the OEM intake parts from turbo inlet to air intake:

The airbox itself shows as NLA, unfortunately.

You could probably save some decent coin by pulling the parts you need from a junkyard. They're pretty durable pieces and with some clean-up would work just fine.
