2015 Golf Sportwagon TDI, using VIN have confirmed it is covered under both extended warranties TDI-11-162K-EXT and TDI-5-60K-EXT, but I am unable to locate copies of the full warranty online.
We are from MN, were on family vacation in SD when flashing glow plug warning came on (engine control malfunction) followed shortly thereafter by check engine light. We immediately drove to closest VW dealer, which was Sioux Falls, SD. They told us they do NOT have a diesel tech and could not help us, referred us to our MN dealer. We paid to have them run computer check which they sent to MN dealer (would not read for us) and we discovered it is an exhaust issue which is covered under dieselgate extended warranty. Both the SD and MN dealer assured us they would cover our rental car home, but they claim they are not responsible for towing our car to MN to get service and we have to pay for that before it can be fixed. The regional customer support is also now telling us that car rental is not covered?! This all seems as though it should be VW responsibility to get the car where it can be fixed and the brochure on emissions issue clearly states VW responsible for all costs and a loaner car or rental to be provided if service cannot be completed within 3 hours.
I am hoping to get a full copy of the warranty so I can find what we are legally entitled to here, anyone have a copy or have experience with a dealership refusing service and putting on the car owner to tow the car? Thank you!
