Does anyone have a lead on someone with a barn that would be open to long term car storage? North of the GTA preferred. My car obsessed daughter (13) has been eyeing up the neighbours '73 240z since she was born, as of yesterday I now own it and need to hide it for a few years until she has her licence. (2 years ago same daughter helped neighbour rebuild the carbs on this car).

Any leads would be appreciated. Also suggestions on how to prep a car for years of storage. (I planned on draining the fuel, removing the battery, lifting the wheels and fogging the motor, anything else)?

I have a friend up in Coldwater, very nice garage (built within the last 6 years?). I think he charges around $100 per month. He has had the same guy there for years but might have some space opening up. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers!

If you can find a relative with an unused garage, that would be the best. As for long term storage, what you listed is good, might want to put the car in jack stands to save the tires from flat spotting. Maybe a mouse trap or two inside the car would be a good option.

You could always get a decent car cover and leave it outside. A lot cheaper than paid indoor storage.

They dry out pretty fast. Better than a chewed up wiring harness.
This is a nightmare, happened to someone I know. The tough question would be whether the mouse came in the car for the bait or if it just happened to be in the neighbourhood, so to speak. It's really not a terrible idea, just have to use non-scented traps.

Thank you for all the input, I found a heated warehouse in Bracebridge that stores a few hundred cars during the winter. It includes an active rodent management system, negating traps in the car.

The 240z is nicely stored away awaiting 2018 when a little girl turns 16.

I know Im late to the party but in case anyone else is looking for winter storage, you can always check any apartment building in your area and talk to the super. I could not afford a garage/storage 10 years ago for $100 or more a month for my '64 Parisienne, ended up getting an underground parking spot for a tentant that didnt drive. Paid $40/month.
