If I have to order my Passat from the factory, how long is the wait and does VW have an online (or similar) tracking system.

Passat TDI SE manual
Thanks.

There isn't an online tool to track your order that I'm aware of. It would be nice if there was. What's kind of funny when I placed my order they took all my personal information including my email addy and attached them to the order...you'd think I would have received an email with congrats on ordering your new Passat from VWoA but nada.

Your best bet is when you place the order is to get the commission number and every couple of weeks bug your dealer for an update.

Wait times vary, I've seen it reported anywhere from 6-12 weeks. Supposedly VW has reworked their ordering procedure so that if you have a signed buyers order the order is expidited and if there is a car already inline being built to your specs it is "diverted" to cover your order.

If you can't wait, go online to Cars.com and start punching in what you want. You may have to go a ways to pick it up, but the instant gratification is worth something in saved stress.

If you have your commission number, I may be able to track it for you. I've not tried to track an order other than my own so it may not work but I can give it a shot for you.

The Cars.com site seems to be the best. Car quantities changing daily. Does cars.com show sold order or just inventory that is available to sell on the lot? Thanks!

Lot inventory. If it hasn't sold already. just email the dealership that has what you want, leave a phone number in the email, they'll get back to you, someone in internet sales at that dealership usually calls back. Have your deposit and finance work all taken care of up front, before you negotiate price, and sell your used car privately.
