Our 2015 MB sprinter is covered by a similar, but different, settlement related to emissions.

The law sharks are soliciting owners to opt out of the class action settlement, and offer independent legal action.

I remember similar attempts for TDI owners, but do not recall details.

Did anyone here go with independent legal action and see improved return (compared with the VW settlement)?

There is at least ONE Ford F350 Super Duty owner that has made out like a bandit by opting out! Close to $800,000.00

That F350 owner was involved in a lemon lawsuit, because the Ford 6.0 liter diesel engine is an unreliable pile of junk. Nothing to do with emission fraud:

That owner also did not get $800k, it was later reduced to a $215k buyback of his truck and payment of his legal fees. Which is still huge compared to the class action settlement of only "$50 and an additional $825 in reimbursement for post-warranty repairs".

The Ford 6.7 diesel is also unreliable (although much better than the horrible 6.0). While the Ford 7.3 diesel is regarded as very reliable.

There is an ongoing diesel emission lawsuit against Ford with it's 6.7 diesel, but nothing has yet come from that.

So it sounds like they bought his truck back and paid the lawyers.

The settlement got those who signed up about a grand apiece so he did quite a bit better and the payment is still being litigated as I understand it.
Several others are still in line for court.
