98 Jetta TDI AHU 1.9L (944 TDI swap in progress) I moved so now i got nothing but an AHU in a garage on a pallet.
in the words of Jay Leno, im paraphrasing here, "specialty shops are not worth going to if they service all cars.... that's not a specialty shop....."
that being said, TDI shops would be out of business fast if they only serviced TDI's
when s hop say's " WE SPECIALIZE IN ALL VW & AUDI & BMW VEHICLES " (copied directly from that link...)
that means that they are not a specialized shop in any way... this is all just marketing BS every sucker wants to hear.....
we do have a trusted TDI mechanis pinned sticky thread at the top of TDI 101 so you might want to search there...
IMO i would not go to any shop unless its a small specialized shop that only deals with VAG (porsches, VW, Audi) and have seasoned TDI mechanics)

also if a shop is advertising (and i use that word loosely as this is not paid for Kijiji) its just strait up redflag to me...
either you are advertising on google with a legit website and so on or you are some shade tree shop... like myself ... i should know lol

Thanks for the reply.
I did visit the sticky post but it has 107 pages and when I tried searching through the thread it brought very little joy.

This caught my eye because I'm getting the P048c code recently and I need to get my DPF Cleaned.
I don't drive on the highway much.

!! DPF EXHAUST FILTER CLEANING NOW AVAILABLE !!!

Also this:

COMPLETE BRAKE JOBS STARTING AT $499.

From their post, they seem to use OEM parts and their mechanic is VW trained.

While I'm fully aware that Kijiji is not always the most safe way to go...for anything..

In my search for a reliable new (independent) mechanic near me, I came across this ad.

Pizzuti & Sons Auto Repair.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-auto-repair...ic-specialist-specials-416-740-4273/322539063

Any opinions?
I was asked to call on Tuesday.

Wonder if the 'complete brake job only does pads and rotors. Extra if anything else is needed. Because it's about 220 for the pads and rotors. Depending on vehicle.

If you're willing to go to Concord/Vaughan, give Perjad at Precision tuning motorsports a call. Good work at a fair price.

... but don't expect Perjad to install the bits you buy from germanoem 😉
Yeah, that would be bad etiquette.

S'ok though - Perjad also sells parts over the counter at competetive prices. I bought all sorts of parts from his place (do my own work) before I moved west to Cambridge.

None...
Recommended to you earlier, will most probably be cheaper than other shops, and this shop uses the same OEM parts ordered from distributors like WorldPac/Altrom/AutoCamping, that all shops order from:

What was in the quote - what manufacturer parts - pads and rotors, front and rear? How many hours labour front and rear? Was a caliper service included?

The guy on the phone was kind of dismissive and he was asking for my vin to get prices for oem parts.

I asked if he can give me a ball park amount and he said $1000 plus taxes. He didn't get into specific details unfortunately.

Sounds to me like he could care less whether he gets your business.

Try calling the other shops mentioned in the thread and ask for a quote on rotors and pads specifically, and ask what brands of parts they would use - then you can compare apples to apples.

Complete brake job means different things to different people. I would include a fluid change unless it's been done in the last year or so.

You don't need a euro specializing shop in order to replace brakes on your car. Any general repair shop should be able to replace them. Ask around, friends, family or parents etc. for recommendation for a trustworthy shop.

^ second that.

Just make sure its a shop that someone has gone to so you can kind of get a review of their work. You dont want to be going to a random shop and having someone who doesnt know what they are doing work on it and forget to tighten something.

Cross post from another thread.

Brakes were done by member @krazykipa.

I was also able to learn a lesson on doing my own fuel filter in the future which was a nice touch. It made me proud to be a member of this club.

I highly recommend Rob.

The price was right on budget and the attention to detail was outstanding.

I wouldn't think twice about allowing him to work on my car in the future.

Perjad's pricing is competitive. If I need something fast, he's the man, can usually pick up same day if you call first thing.
Perjad FTW again :)

The wagon arrived home from errands yesterday with no power steering, obviously leaking from the high pressure line at the rack. Called Perjad at 5:30 to order the part, he had it ready for pickup by 9am, car back on the road by lunchtime. Same price as Germanoem.

Only issue I had was getting the banjo bolt at the rack started without crossthreading it or dropping the sealing washer - man that's a tight spot, and you need three hands but there's only room for one.
