My question is simple...I think. I have been in the automotive industry for about 35 years and have access to much of the latest technology concerning vehicles specifically Fords. In my mind I can download the vag com app to the daily service diag computer we use and buy the proprietary obd2 cable that is used from China and set my injector quantity since I have resealed the injector pump. OR am I way out in left field like a ball lost in high weeds? Thank you for any and all input, OLDFATMAN.

With your background you must know that Ford, Chyrsler, GM, all Asian and other models have their own proprietary software that cost thousands of dollars initially and then often requires a monthly subscription of hundreds of dollars. Why would you reward the chinese hacks who stole the programming and made these cheap cables that sometimes work and sometimes don't? VCDS is only $199 with American support that you can understand.

Any OBDII device that will read measuring block 000, field 4 will work.

Group 000 measuring blocks

From left to right

Engine idle speed: range 42 - 45 = 870-950
Start of injection: range 12 - 75 = 2 degrees ATDC - 3 degress BTDC
Throttle position: 0 = 0 %
Injection quantity: 11 - 45 = 2.2 - 9.0 mg/stroke

Don't buy hacked junk from China. Or anything from China if you can help it. The cable is proprietary to RossTech not the china hackers who stole it. Half don't work right anyway and no help from them to get it working. RossTech is a supporter here and makes a quality product. A slap in everyone's face to come here and suggest theft of IP.

Anything that will read generic OBDII codes can get you the diagnostic codes, but you need something like RossTech's sw and cable (the cable is the licensing device) or the proprietary VW HW /SW to get into details like you're asking.

First thing to do is a search as most everything has already been asked and answered especially for the older cars like your 03. Your question has been asked and answered many times. Kind of like the ever popular "What oil do I use?" question which has been asked and answered to infinity and still going strong. Not trying to offend but let you know this place is already a vast database on all things tdi and should be used (search first). It is more than just a question and answer site. I have a real sore spot also for pirated goods and the people who make, sell and buy them. It's just wrong.

Ok guys what happened to the original post. I see my first post #2 is now at the top. Did the op delete his post completely? I didn’t even know you could do that.

Since yours is an '03
you can just get a used rosstech KII or Key dongle.
Often available on here for $100.
and the rosstech software is free.

One Snap-On Quantus OBDII scanner in our shop and 4:39 minutes 39 seconds and we have success at a 4.2 injector quantity.
