Hey, is anybody gonna be there who can adjust my darn outside door handles so that you dont have to rip your arm out of socket to open the door?
I will put it on the list of things to do, hope someone will be able to save your arms.

Thanks Walt! Does anyone know if something like that requires parts or if it just an adjustment. I think I have heard that it is just an adjustment, but I dont know???

have you got just an address where this will be going down? i'd like to throw it on mapgs.google

this sounds like a good time. i'm not sure i'll need any work done, but i might decide that i want to put in another mod or 2. i've only had my car about 2 weeks now so i'm mostly just trying to meet lots of people and learn all i can about how to keep it running in top shape.

also, if anyone is interested i think some people are planning a mid-June meeting in Kansas City.

try this link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=2550+W+Avondale+St,+Poplar+Bluff,+MO&ll=36.784267,-90.395937&spn=0.015157,0.037165&om=1

You don't need any work done, but you will learn something. (maybe something you don't need to know or will never use, but you will learn something guaranteed)

In the three I have attended, I learned more about my TDI than I ever thought possible.

Man the Liberty CRD could do it in one tank. :D

Ok, ok, so it has a 20.5 gallon tank. ;)

One tank? ok, so two tanks (one there and one back)

using Rand Mcnally's mapping function for Shortest trip:
Estimated Total Driving Time: 11 hours, 20 minutes
Estimated Total Driving Distance: 532 miles
Total Number of Steps: 54

only adds about an hour to driving time, plus most of the driving is on 55 MPH highways, not 70 MPH express ways (better aggregate mileage)
see http://www.randmcnally.com mouse over "Maps and directions" and click on "Online Driving Directions"
I like to try both Fastest, and Shortest to see the differance.

thanks for pointing that out for me, i hadn't considered that. i'll have my intake cleaned, and hopefully a 5th gear .681 swap by then so i should be doing really well.

Yeah, once I found that Rand Mcnally site I have used it for comparisons,
it is intersting how randmcnally.com maps.google.com maps.yahoo.com and mapquest.com all list different distances and travel times for the same queries.

Map-quest is worst on time estimates,
Google seems to be the best, (I like the hybrid map feature where you can see a general lay of the destination)

the .681 5th gear is probably the most effective Mod I have done to date.
Now to figure out why my alternator light comes on at 4k rpms on the highway.

Wow, Walt hasn't posted in this thread in almost a month,
must not have gotten hot enough to drive him back inside yet.....:D
All the cool damp weather has had my arthritis really acting up, but when the hot & muggy comes back in a day or two the garage will be just for parking the vehicles. Either way it a non starter for me.

I feel for ya, I figured you were out enjoying the weather not suffering from it....

SWEET!

A GTG that's actually close to me! I live in Paducah, KY and am going to pick my NB up on the 25th of this month. Hopefully, I can make it to the GTG and like Woofie says "learn more about my TDI than I could ever imagine"

Dont suppose anyone would be down for helping pull the front clip on a '98 NB and swap out an A/C condensor? Ehhh?

Crap...didnt think so:eek:

:D :D :D

I think you'll melt before then if you don't get it fixed.

I gotta drive thru Paducah to get to the GTG. However, I'll be coming thru on Friday evening.

I could do that in one tank easy in the CRD, you should need one tank here and back. :p

Ooops!!! Forgot CRD has 20.5 gal tank. ;) :D

All kidding aside if you are on the eastern side of the state, you should cross over to I-57 and come down and avoid the mess awaiting you by coming I-55 and save a couple of miles to boot.

Good news is there a MFA 24 hr CC only fueling center about 10 minutes off route here close to I-55 that sells 49 cetane B10 fuel that has never given me a problem and it sure quitens down our CRD compared to others.

Come on down. It's usually a good time!

BTW, thanks for the tip on the Northern tool engine support. Just received it, looks like it will work fine. Cheap, too. Just gotta make a trip to the hardware store for the needed links for the lift points.

Can someone kidnap Kerma and Jeff (rocketchip) and bring them
to the GTG. I need a chip and could go for nozzles too, (06 A5 manual).

I have asked Jeff several times, but it is about 1000 miles from his place to mine. That makes it tough to get him to come, but he might do it if we had 10 people or more wanting to get chipped. Don't know about Kerma, not sure where he is located. But you could send an invite to him if he is within driving distance for a weekend.

Hummmm, KK doughnuts!!!!!!! :D :D :D
