Where in Dexter? I will be coming right thru there on the way in. :) Any BioD to be had there?
Sorry I did get back to computer to check here till just now (5 am Sat), damn laptop has been on all night. We put Jerry Stringer's Passat in the garage about 3 pm yesterday and did his TB. Greg, Jerry, Glen, and I then headed out for supper about 6:30 and ran into John (Ex_RailRoader) there, where we all stuffed ourselves. :D

The Bio station at Dexter is on same street that NG Training Center is on, but I can't give directions as I don't know street names. Once you get here I can show you on map how to get to it on the way back, if you haven't filled up as yet.

Breakfast will be sometime around 7:30 or so, just depends on what time Linda is up and around to fix it for us.

Hot damn, JETaah has made the trip.

It sure is good to see a lot of old friends again that I don't see often enough, and to meet new friends that seem like old friends that I talk with from the VW & LOSTkj forums. :D

Got to remember to take lots of pic's this time, most of the time I am too busy BSing and having fun and forget about the pictures.

My car thanks you.

Now to retrain my right foot.

and I really need to adjust my IQ settings! (No, Walt on the car, not just my head)

The Great KK Masacree Weekend!

Boy did I have fun this weekend! I met a whole bunch of nice people,
ate some really good food, met Jeff from RC who worked his magic on
my car.....WOW! To all the wonderful folks I met this weekend, thanks
for the great time!!! I hope to see you all many more times...:)
Thanks to Walt and Linda for hosting the fine GTG! Not at all an easy
undertaking, but what a wonderful result for all their guests....:)
There was more TDI specific work done today than a dealership does
in a week. Really!
My wife and I toured the State Capitol in Jefferson City, enjoyed a fancy
dinner at Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, MO.,explored Elephant Rock state
park, learned about the civil war battle at Ft. Davidson, all in addition to
Old Navys' Great Annual GTG and KK masacree.:D

Tired but Happy Bill
ps, How do you get a RC1+ grin removed from your face? I think its
terminal!!

hey guys,

walt - thanks for hosting! i appreciate letting me use your ramps and a few other various small tools to help me with my ridiculous skid plate install  i swear my brain must not have been working right today, because i made almost every annoying possible mistake i could and this was (surprisingly) the second time doing the plate. ended up having to put on and take off various elements multiple times, and i still need to take it off and replace a stripped bolt and cut one of the sideskirts and put that on. that's fine tho as i need to still do the oil cooler, frostheater, oil change... can't wait to see how bad i can screw that up

bruce - thanks for the couple wrenches i was missing and THE BLANKET!! (either my plate wouldn't be in or my back would be bleeding) and the tips and help when i got confused. :)

good to meet everyone else even though i didn't catch all the names or get to spend enough time meeting people as i had successfully dug myself into a quagmire in the gravel pit under my car :D on a positive note, the bracket i "made" for the frostheater under/to the side of the oil cooler should work just perfect.

and lastly thanks to jeff!! the rc2 in the golf now makes it *almost* as fun as my jetta! (i just like my manual and my new .658 gear :) ) let's see now if my gf starts to get speeding tickets. man - 3 in the last 6 days for me - 2 on the way down! and all 3 of them fairly innocent speeding mistakes combined with bad luck, but i guess it makes up for all the 85-90mph driving i've done out on the open highway lately, rrrr, but still not fair...

to whoever got my plastic skidplate (can't remember your name :( ) i forgot i should have given you my screws as i don't really need them anymore....

edit - i almost forgot! many thanks to glen for providing me with the much needed rivnut tool and the center rivnut which got messed up!! that really saved me

i had a great time despite being totally frustrated with myself for turning what should be a pretty straightforward skidplate install into a nightmare... i'm sure i will be dreaming above crawling on my back in gravel tonight :) thanks again to all!

Home a few minutes ago. As always, a good time.

Pat, hope all is well. I just had an inspiration for the MAF plug that I may be able to make happen. I'll let you know later this week.

Frank, thanks for your generosity. A care package will be leaving KY later today. BTW, what year is your Jetta?

Guys, thanks for pitching in on Pat's bug to get it healthy.

Everyone:

Thanks for another great TDIclub experience. My son, Ian and I got home last night just before 10PM. He says that TDI people are really friendly. Good talk from a 9 year old. I guess you guys impressed him, I know I was!

Special thanks to Walt and Linda for hosting this barely controlled insanity. That many diesel heads in such close proximity and things can take off on their own without the proper oversight. It was good to meet the people who's posts I read almost daily. Nice to match a face to the screen names too! Hope to see you all next time. It was a blast and worth every one of the 928 miles we put on getting there and back. BTW, I just filled up and we got 46+ mpg on the trip home. Probably could have been better but a lead foot and a desire to get home got the better of me. Oh well, maybe next road trip I can find that "magic" 50 mpg.

Well we made it home about and hour ago. Took the interstate all the way back and the Westy's rubber band was wound tight. Did 60-62 mph all the way. Did 3 stops and had and average of 56mph and a round trip average of 23.4 mpg. Changed oil in it yesterday and in 410 miles home the oil was still pretty clean. So I would say its now cleaned up internally. Thanks Walt and Linda it was great as usual. Glenn I still have that picture in my mind about Bruce giving mouth to mouth.:DSee ya all later.

See you all at the next one! :D

Thank you Walt and Linda. Had a great time. Thanks to all involved and all the stories and tales. Thanks to Bruce for the spare parts and supervision getting me sore in places I forgot I had playing with a manifold.

With some help from Jeff I cut an hour off my drive home.
/hehe I still have cruise control
//still stuck with an automatic

Alright Eric, wheres all the pictures.

And to Bill, if you need any help wiping a smile off. Grab a ride with MJE32 and the RC 2+ on the Passat and VNT17 stock turbo. For just having a chip (so far), that was niiice.

So Walt, is the city going to charge you for ripping up the street and breaking water lines with all the new chip takeoffs out front?

Enough with the mouth to mouth. I haven't done that since 1984 when they first started talking about the "gay disease". Too many risks these days.

Care package to Frank leaving KY tomorrow with a few thank you gifts included! Including the bumper grille you wanted.

Howdy guys,

Well I had a great time. Didn't have too much work that needed to be done, but I do appreciate Walt for giving me the excuse needed to drive over 600 miles just to see if the FMIC added any mpgs. By the way, I did get 53 mpg  on the way home with the cruise set at 65mph  . Yay

Now to figure out how to replace that egr pipe with something that won't break when its superheated.

Thanks again

Thanks to Old Navy and maybe more importantly, to Mrs. Old Navy for hosting (putting up with?) the GTG. Hope you don't get voted out of your neighborhood homeowner's association! I soaked up a lot of great information like a sponge. Another thanks to Jeff at RC for making the trip, so glad I waited. His expertise and experience when it comes to remapping TDI's simply cannot be beat by anyone, period. Enjoyed putting faces to names and look forward to next year!

Ok, there are too many people to remember first time out... too many handles. Walt, Linda; great hospitality... it's impossible to acknowledge everyone...

My biggest problem now is, I'm going to have to go out and make a few grand so I can buy all the toys, gadgets, programming and goodies that all the other members have.

NathanMSL... loved your Golf. I wanna have one just like it...

Woofie, your car really impressed me at startup. and the roadtests... I wanted to sit shotgun... What turbo do you have?

Paramedick... Bruce, you were one of the first of many to lend a helping hand. It was my pleasure (Randy Lattal, DSL-Nator) suggested the anti-shudder valve exchange for Pat's white NB. All I did was bleat... y'know, the sacraficial lamb thing... It was a feather in my cap to find the 'hidden problem'.

Btw: My Silver Jetta is an '02. The other VW at the moment is "Suprbug", a 99 Red NB that is unmistakable, with an 18" Superman emblem on the hood... the rebuilt head I was showing around goes on that car next week. I can hardly wait...

Burpod, Pat.. with the white NB, Larry Stringer... were you the long-distance driver?, The Minnesooootans... it was great to meet you guys.

I am the guy that also has another project rebuilder; a rollover '02 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24v, I finally bought a 'cherry' truckbed yesterday, east of Parsons Ks...near perfect... I missed the handle for the guy that wants the Right Rear of the wrecked truck cab that I R & R'd. Somewhere lost in all my crap is your email. Phil something? He's one of the veteran regulars...help me out if you know who I mean.

Other than that, I think I heard the dsl-nator say , "I'll be back..."

So will I...Great experience..Great bunch of guys.

They worked till after midnight with jackhammers, and finally finished about 1 am with a temp repair.

They have just pulled up outside and seems like they are going to be working in the rain.  Pictures may follow for the non believers. ;)

Come on, it couldn't have been that bad. 20 chipped TDIs couldn't, well ok maybe, have torn up the road. I didn't get chipped but I did show off what that chip eating grin looks like;)

HEHEHE, it's stock, just without a muffler. I did a mufflerectomy, and have never looked back.
The only powermods were installed, at the GTG, PP520's and RC2.
(the dyno plot in the windsheild showed the stock 89 HP and 154ft/LBs at the wheels, which were done with the OMI and DG race pipe on.)
Since then I added the intercooler tubing, injectors and chip.

The best was Walt's grandson saying Truck and pointing at my car when coming back from a "Fun Run" :D

still can't get that Chip Eating Grin off my face:D

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Walt, it's been a few years since I've been to one of your GTG's and this one was just outstanding. Your hospitality is fantastic.

MoGolf, I'm not sure what to say. You are just an amazing resource for all of us. How is it possible that the injection timing was dead on after you finished the belt? It's fun to watch you work, even though I did get in the way too often. You were very gracious answering questions. I just can't thank you enough for applying your knowledge to my Golf.

Jeff, RC2 on a standard unmodified car just makes me smile. It's a beautifully refined power. All I can say is I made the 135 miles back to my house in St. Louis in under 2 hours. The passing on the 2 lane portion of 67 required no real extra thought.

Paramedick too bad you got stuck out in the low-rent mechanic district, but you sure were nice to supervise everybody working in the gravel.

I had a great time talking with everybody. MrErlo and his permagrin after the first drive with RC2. Greg for doing the hands on with my car. Frank06, Jerry Stringer, Mcolmstead for enjoying watching Glen work so hard, All Of Us and his really nice and interested son. So many good folks, I had a great time.

Well woofie2, burpod, and myself must have moved up from the tenement ghetto gravel to Walts Big House when we got chipped then. ;)

I don't recall your work cloths getting that dirty... :p

No sir they sure didn't. I was all ready to help MOGolf, but quickly found he didn't need my help...

I went to start on the EGR Cooler delete and they called my name for RC. Couldn't really think about much more than going faster after that...

It was certainly nice seeing new faces alongside the familiar ones (I would have said old ones but I know better). Thanks to Walt and Linda and all the ladies that helped with the cooking. Thanks to MOGOLF for an excellent job with my timing belt install and just being able to watch you at work. Thanks to paramedick for always lending a hand where needed. Thanks to Greg for the ride in the Westy and for dinner. My ride home was as quick as my ride up, but with much less smoke thanks to Jeff. It's not everyday someone customizes a chip program while you watch and then does a "hammer mod" to make things perfect. I look forward to this event all year and hope to make the trip to Marty's next year.

Jerry

P.S. The homemade cookies were worth the trip alone.

We made it back Sat night and it was still daylight! :D Thanks to Walt and Linda for hosting! The food was great, as was the company. Hopefully we'll be able to make it to the next one as well.

Special thanks to MOGolf for his incredible TB change on our car. He even put up with my "help"! I'm all about taking off those belly pans. :D

It was great to see some familiar faces (I can't believe you and Sandy drove down from MI, JetAAH!!) and many new ones. We'll be sure to bring cookies to the next one too. ;)
