I got a new job and was wondering if I would have to get off of work, but I asked off and was approved!!! Hooray! I work at autozone, so if anyone needs some specialty tools or anything like that let me know! or parts for that matter. While I am here are speed sensors hard to do, I think mine has gone haywire...it jumps around all over the place. Later

Anyone still looking for a campsite, be it tent, camper or motorhome, the Corps of Engineers has a very nice modern campground with utilities located in Piedmont, MO. This is approximately 50 miles north of Poplar Bluff on Clearwater Lake. Reservations have to be made here:

http://www.reserveusa.com/jsp/commonpage.jsp?goto=/nrrs/mo/rilb/newindex.html

Its a nice drive down to the Bluff and can be made in less than an hour.

Everything stripped down and cleaned for the head install. Now it just has to be delivered. Hope springs eternal that the Passat will make the trip. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Walt, have we heard from Oilhammer? If he's coming down, and I drive my car, thought I might bring the old head for him to deliver to his friendly machine shop.

He hasn't come to the last several GTG's and I don't expect him to come this one either as he hasn't posted here.

B&G for breakfast too?:D:D

You would not beleive how well the Westy is running Walt. It will cruise 55 easy and as long as you don't have a head wind 60 is do able. I must have it tweaked good or its getting ready to blow apart.

Good luck on getting the head in!

If you need delivery, I can always get it close and either take it out to Oilhammer's place or arrange to meet him.

I'm pretty sure there's somebody else that drives right by his place in Union coming too.

turn signal short/bulb

little late on the notice here...

last night my left turn signal started flashing double speed. i checked and my left from signal is not working at all, either the front light or the small side yellow light. anyone got any experience with this? i assume it's just a bad bulb... but since both are out it could be an electrical problem. anyone know how to check this for sure? also, who knows how to take apart a turn signal assembly? i'll bring both my Haynes and my Bentley, so i'm sure that will cover the job.

thanks,

Well, some of my piping for my FMIC shipped late... not sure if my car is going to be done in time for the GTG so I may not be able to make it ... not pleased at this turn of events.

Current plan:

We'll be getting up and out the door at 5am on Saturday. That should put us into Poplar Bluff about 8am. We're trying to get there early but running into work issues. We'll bring a tent in case the work runs late, so don't give away our portapotty spot! :D Any other food desired? I was thinking maybe brownies...fudge...homemade beef jerky? Seems like the KK's will be well-covered. Although I know the general sentiment is you can't have too many, I thought a little variety might be in order (and no, I don't mean variety of KK flavors). :p

Anyone have a killer pumpkin bar they like to make? Can't go wrong with pumpkin and cream cheese. Unless we have an overload of pumpkin KKs :p

For major work the earlier the better, as you car will need to cool before they can work on it, (or at least it would for me)
Day old donut monkey bread?
or Cherry walnut brownies :D

I already emailed Walt my pumpkin bar recipe. (some call it a dump cake) but I could share it if you wanted.

Hello to All - Just 5 days to go!:) I can hardly wait to head south from Des Moines. If anyone from this area wants to caravan, let me know via pm asap. Also, my buddy with the 2002 NB won't be coming due to his job, he is going to try to send me his ECU from California to bring along with me, so one slot (09) may be open for Jeff/RC. Later - MJ

Well its coming down to the wire. I did some interior cleaning on the Westy today and have a new alternator to put on it tomorrow and rub out the passenger side yet. Would like to get the front wheels bearing packed and replaced but their are only so many hours is day.

Walt anything special you want me to bring? Other than KK's.

I dunno if this is your problem, but the Jetta's front turn signal connectors are known to develop some burn on the connection. I had to replace both my bulbs at once:

So, perhaps an arc-ing front bulb toasted the other bulb on the circuit? Just a thought....

could be, i guess i'll find out this weekend. btw, just so i dont have to go hunting thru hundreds of pages of manuals, what manual and page number (if you can remember) was that in the photo? that'd save me some time i'd reckon.
