Hi,

It's been a long time since I posted here. My 2013 Passat TDI now has 380k kms. It's been leaking oil for some time so I decided to fix it. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where the leak is possible coming from? I don't have a check engine light related to EGR. The leak appears to be coming from somewhere near or at EGR cooler. Thank you.

Let me know what you find. I have a leak in that area as well, which I am attributing to a leaky valve cover -just haven't had time to replace it yet (have all the parts). I did check around the cam seal, as these are known to fail, but it looked good.

After careful analysis, I am concluding that the oil leak is coming from a leaky valve cover. It leaks down the engine wall, bracket to DPF and into the EGR cooler as well. I also discovered a leaky exhaust egr pipe in the process.

Things to do....leaky valve cover + leaky EGR pipe exhaust + timing belt + leaky DEF at injector/line.....seriously considering delete....

Changed the valve cover gasket this past week. No oil leaks anymore. Car would leak oil right away before fix.

Its a big job to change the valve cover gasket as on my 2015 Jetta TDI as the fuel injectors along with the fuel lines need to be removed. VW wants just over a $1000.00 dollars to do it for valve cover gasket leaking.
Is there anyone who can do it in the Barrie Ont., area who knows what they are doing.
Please let me know and thank you.

Brandon at DCB Automotive is near you and he's a recommended mechanic in the Ontario forum:

It didn't take me more than 1.5 hours. The lines past the HPFP don't need priming so you don't have to worry about that either. I definitely think this is an easy job that looks hard.

Where did you hear that? Latest reviews are less than a week old.

Why post asking for a mechanic in the area if you don't need one?
Re-read what i wrote. I was inquiring/curious if he was still operating. I didn't ask looking for a mechanic.
