I seem to be a tiny bit (half quart?) low on coolant and there seems to be an oily film on top in the res.

Im guessing it is a gasket to the oil cooler. If I am going to pull it off, I would prefer to put the upgraded metal one on, in hopes it may deter having to take it off again. I only have about 80,000 miles on my engine so plan to hang onto this for a while. My question is, what is the best way to take this one off. I can find videos for every other TDI out there except the Jetta sportswagon and all of the setups seem to be slightly different. Does anyone have any insight on this. I tried the search feature though I am either an idiot or could not find anything. I have heard this can be a problem with this cars. Im also guessing it could have happened when someone borrowed my car and could have had it ideally for almost an hour, in a parking lot, eating their lunch. Not sure if that would have done it or not. I am getting a code for the electrical connector to the turbo, which you can see in the image, has some spray on it. Thank you in advance.

they are already metal. CKRA (2012-14 Passats) gets plastic oil cooler and are notorious for failures.

ours being metal are headache free thankfully but not the gasket.... mine is failing BADLY. will replace gasket when oil change is done (due asap)

Good to know, thank you. Any idea how much time is needed to switch the gasket. Looks like the oil cooler is tucked in there pretty good. I guess I should not have only driven in sport mode. I would at times get what seemed to be like it was going to stall, at times, mostly in sport mode, after climbing a good hill then coasting for a while. Could this be linked or maybe my fuel pump is off? I have tiny specs of oil on the top of the coolant res though the oil seems clean. Are you mixing or just leaking? Is it the gaskets I can get to without taking it out or the one connecting it to the engine block that has issues. I know the plastic ones has a tab inside that can break though if its just one of the O gaskets, top and bottom, it seems like those are easier to fix, without unbolting it from the block. That said, I guess I still need to get to the sensor, to switch it out, which may involve pulling a good amount of parts.

Do they make velcon seals for the o-rings? Is it 24ftlbs of torque? Im thinking a dynamic EGR .5 Malone flash. Any idea if there is a worry, with long highway driving and no short trips, of the DPF clogging?

Anyone running a 2” / 1.5” koni shock lift, rear and front, with slightly bigger tires? The pot holes here mirror swimming pools and we get lots of snow.

If I say, f it to the turbo boost sensor code, am i just limiting turbo potential though at the same time, protecting its lifespan? I can’t tell the difference with and without the code. Im torn keeping and modding this or trading it in for a non vw with only 4000 miles, I can get a deal on. I would prefer the mod though not sure if it will be a chain reaction of unseen issues in other areas. I do not have a garage to work on it and only trust my dirt driveway so much, so I would prefer to pay the dealership for labor, likely, just to be safe.
