Oil burning

Hi all, my turbo recently blew in my 2010 Audi a4 b8 2.0 tdi and it nearly blew the engine. It was caused by a blocked dpf and now that I got a new turbo put in and dpf sorted bar the dpf sensor, for short journeys there is an awful smell of burning oil and there is smoke from the burnt oil coming from under the bonnet, any ideas what it might be? Could it be just excess oil from my engine nearly blowing up?

It can easily take 30-60 minutes of "spirited" driving (ie getting the exhaust system really hot) to burn out all the oil in the exhaust system after a turbo blowout.

Ohhh I can vouch for that……
My son’s turbo split in half when at college just before Easter when he was in school.
Went to his college to swap out turbo and see what’s what.
Took damn near 30 minutes of driving to clear the oil out. Man did it smoke.
