Ill do some research. I pretty much just went to mouser under "automotive connectors" and chose rectangular, crimp style, te connectivity etc
Ok, I'm starting to think they might not be made by Tyco so I'm broadening my searches

Anyone figure out 000 979 018 E yet? The $20 is still on the table for whoever finds it! :)

i've been busy, but they might be perhaps be in the TE micro-power and power quadlock line. link, and link.

also, you probably came across this link, that has lots of connector info.

the 2nd image on the right at the top appears to be it. so i think that would be the vw pn# for that connector and could perhaps still be ordered through 1stvw or other deal, if you are desperate and we can't track down the TE/delphi/etc connector

Thanks for those links, but I've looked through all that already. The one in the picture you mentioned is for 000 979 009 which is not the same one. There seems to be massive confusion about this terminal on the internet, everyone thinks that is that one but its not. There is this stupid raised edge that doesn't allow it to fit into anything.

I'm losing my mind looking for this thing:mad:. I'm in contact with someone at TE about it right now so hopefully they will be able to figure it out.

is this connector the same one used in the mk3 cluster pin wires?

Maybe I've never owned a mk3. It was in the earlier mk4 cluster pins (my 2001 has them) but they updated something along the way and the newer mk4s have 000 979 009.

Not yet - fuel is too cheap! - 3.2 VR6 R32
Golf V etc micro relays use a 000 979 144 E repair wire for the large pins

Anyone know the tyco equivalent for this?

I've tried the Lisle tool and was less than pleased.
So, I started researching the Tyco tools:
1-1579007-6 for larger contacts (2.8mm)
539960-1 smaller contacts (1.6mm)

While I haven't tried the tooling on every connector on my B4, I have been much more successful with these tools than the Lisle tool.

They aren't cheap. However, http://www.ttiinc.com has the best price at $50 ea. All other distributors are asking near $75-$100 ea.

ttiinc.com is a great place to order stuff. i've ordered a number of various little things from them

however, for terminal release tools, the ones i got here from dave @ ottostadt work just great, and cheaper

Great thread!
I have another TDI into a Mk1 swap coming up. I've been wanting to get away from soldering connections to the fuse box and have been wanting to make the switch to factory crimps.
After days and days and days of searching for the round terminals to the CE1 fuse box, I finally found them! Figured I would share! Note, these are for german production fuse boxes, not for late westy. Im also not sure yet if they apply to the early Mk1 boxes used in the 1970s. This would be for the Cabriolet and Mk1 Jetta after 81 or 82, whenever they switched the fuse box style.
Basically the small pins are 1.6mm, the large pins are 3.5mm.
I havent found a supplier here in the US. There are several companies in the UK that list them, but none of them have a shoppping cart that allows shipping to the US. Many of them not even shipping to Europe.. Not sure if its a Brexit thing or something..
Soo anyhow. The company that makes the pins is called Van Line.
http://www.vanline.no/filemanager/download_file/file/369983.pdf
  • Part Number ET405: 3.5mm pin. 0.5-1.0mm^2 wire size
  • Part Number ET406: 3.5mm pin. 1.0-2.5mm^2 wire size
  • Part Number ET409: 1.6mm pin. 0.5-1.0mm^2 wire size
NOTE: There is also an ET407, which is also 1.6mm, for 0.75-1.5mm^2 wire. At first glance, it appears to be the same as the 407, just for larger wire(like the difference in the 405 and 406). That is a different series terminal! The retaining clips are much closer to the end than they are on the VW Terminal!

After going through the pain of trying to order off websites and getting rejected I went on eBay and found a few sellers with shipping to the US.
Terminals come in packs of 20. I bought 2 packs of each, total shipped to the US was like $130.

Im looking for help finding the correct terminal end for one of the four connectors , and pins on ths part
038 971 600 its the injector wiring loom for the pd bew (although looks somewhat universal)

Can anyone help? I would like to try to depin , repair and replace the connector that connects to cylinder 1.
If anyone knows the name of that connector, i would sure appreciate it.

I know the connector you're talking about, but wouldn't know how to find the proper part number for the terminal.
I'd try calling a VW dealer and ask them which repair wire it is for replacing that - they should be able to look that up.

Things like this are the reason why I've kept as much intact wiring as possible when I swapped out the 2.0L gasser for a ALH, and did a part out of a different ALH: I'm thinking that the wiring terminal or broken connector I need can be found somewhere in that maze of wiring.

those terminals i believe are standard junior timers. looking at my harness - the round connector going to the head, i think 14ga wire? some of them i think are gold pated, not sure if that's really necessary. so you'd want the junior timer female for 14ga . either gold plated or not

so i think these ones would work (not gold plated); that particular link is for minumum of 100 @ $.12 each. but its a pretty common one, worth to have some extra :)

... but maybe i was looking at the wrong harness

Can't remember the width of them, but if you have some an ABS connector...those are small-ish (and gold-plated IIRC).

I guess I had never seen this post, but I'm starting to collect vw type connectors and am doing some harnesses and all.
There's a lot of good info here!
