Not at all, although with the edit, it can stay here. Otherwise, I'd need to move it to the classified section.

My post doesn't say where to buy the OEM plate and I'm pretty sure the thread doesn't say buy from whomever.

In addition to the snow getting into the bottom because of the holes, It's not very strong, IMO. Why someone would pay $300 for this thing is beyond me.

Don't ask me...ask the peeps who bought.

However, you are paying the extra money for OEM fitment...where nelly2400's plate you do have to extend one of the slots for one of the bolts.

Using the glass-filled nylon radiator support as support doesn't float my boat either.

But people seem to like the open access to their drain plug (except VR6's iirc).

might as well throw in:

1Y0 825 235G for the OEM Aluminum one
After seeing this picture, I now know that I have the DG Aluminum skid plate.
I will fill those holes in with SS sheet metal this spring to provide proper protection under the hood (snow & gravel)
Thanks for the picture.

Does anyone know if the aluminum skidplate uses the same mounting hardware as the VW steel skidplate?

Thanks!!

20IndigoBlue02/Maasta Shake,

The post/thread I was referring to did not have any pricing, just a link to Snowman's installation Instructions. So my comment is still accurate.

I added the updated pricing after someone else questioned the prices on Snowman's web page. Besides, VENDORS are the ones not permitted to advertise outside of the classified section. I am not a vendor.

So, will I see this clarification added to your post on NQR?

Is there any difference between the OEM VW Steel Skid Plate and the DG Steel Skid Plate? Are the clearances the same?

Thanks!

The O.E. Aluminum plate does not allow oil draining through any of the holes for any engine, 4 or 6 cylinder. You either need to remove the bottom aluminum plate or simply buy and use a Pela 6000 oil extractor to drain your oil. I wanted to nip this one early.

With the mention of an additional 5% off, this post is effectively an advertisement for one seller. Would it not also be fair if the other advertiser's single, concise (and lower) shipped price be added to this post for the benefit of all interested club members?

Sure, if someone other than a vendor wants to post it. It'll stay. You've got plenty of customers, I'm sure it'll be up soon.

Re: OEM VW Steel skid plate - part no & instructi

And, for you Canadian Members.....

Just ordered the necessary parts from the dealer yesterday. Invoice is slightly shy of $500 for everything, slightly over $400 if you know them well enough that you get a good discount. This includes shipping, does not include the government's chunk of it (14% here in MB.)

Dunno if this is relavent, or allowed, but I'll throw it up anyways.

Sure it's relevant and allowed. You're not a vendor advertising the product.

Hey www.dieselgeek.com has an OEM steel skid plate for $299, including the rivnut tool and very handy directions that include templates to modify the side skirts. And this includes shipping to the 48 states. Excellent after-sale support.

They also sell the more popular Deluxe kits that do
include custom modified side skirts and the price for those is $360
including shipping. Both kits include every part needed for mounting the
plates including a brand new and improved rivnut tool, special rivnuts, and
emailed instructions with a bunch of pictures

Just don't get the OEM aluminum skid plate. I have to bend it back into shape every six months.
