I would like to add that I also beat the 2 prius fellows...

Couldn't resist...
Yea yea....and my next tank is gonna suck too thanks to a 30 degree drop in temps over the past 48 hours. I'm holding at 53mpg and praying for a warm-up in the weather this tank.

You guys couldn't invite us over in June & July when I was getting my tanks in the high 50s and low 60s with my old worn LRR Integrities!?
Don't worry Evan, he can't beat us all.

First Tank of the Month:

Combo of me and my wife driving in and around Lubbock.
464.6 miles
8.017
2004 Prius II
CVT
86 Octane
57.95 MPG (54.9 Screen)

The screen was at 56.2 until cold front came in a few days before I had to fill up. If it had stayed the same temp, maybe I would have gotten my second 60 mpg tank.
Can't have it all I guess...but my last 10 tanks have an average of more than 1300 miles PER tank...

It's my turn to pull down the group average a bit.

Date: 9/7/05
Miles: 559.0
Fuel: 12.6 gal B100
---------------------
44.37 mpg at B100

I had a few mountain runs which I take as Italian tune-up opportunities. Hardly any AC this tank, though.

Ya'll have to forgive this entry. It will be the combination of 2 "fills". My wife had the car for most of the first of these two tanks and filled the car for the first time at an unfamiliar pump. She stopped at the first automatic shut off only do discover after leaving the station that she'd only filled about 2/3rds of the tank...thus the MPG calculated to 81.9MPG!!

Note that about 75% of this tank was driven on the highway b/w 55MPH & 65MPH with temps as low as the upper-30s and only briefly above 65 (end of 2nd tank).

To the person who manages this competition--I'll put the combined data first for submission to the monthly competition. The individual tank data will follow for the curious only.

Driver Evan (efusco)
Miles 693
Gallons 13.077
Model Year 2004
Model Prius 2G
Transmission eCVT
Fuel Regular Unleaded (87 octane)
Calculated MPG -- 53.0

****For the curious only*****
Tank 1-439miles, 5.359gal = 81.9mpg (display showed 53.2)
Tank 2-254miles, 7.718gal = 32.9,mpg (display showed 56.1)

A couple more fills:

10/5 10.611 gal 683.4 miles 64.40 mpg

10/6 5.311 gal 353.6 miles 66.58 mpg

The 10/6 fill followed a nearly continuous 300 mile run at 1800 rpm / 57 mph with very little AC.

D2, as usual.

Not to worry I have had over 900 miles at tank. See below, but the next tank really suffered!

02/18/05 miles 20 gals 13.827 mpg 1.446

02/18/05 miles 879 gals 0.936 mpg 939.103

Prius drivers: How much driving is done in town as compared to highway?? I still need to get the fat guy from behind the wheel of my car. He is just dead weight.

This varies, of course, for each of us and each tank. If you note I said:
"Note that about 75% of this tank was driven on the highway b/w 55MPH & 65MPH with temps as low as the upper-30s and only briefly above 65 (end of 2nd tank)."

My usual commute is about 1/2 rolling country road b/w 35-45mph and about 1/2 city (not big city stop every block, more like stop every 1/2 mile to 1 mile).

OK, here goes my first entry into the competition for the month...

828.6 miles
18.28 gallons (did a splash and dash to get to Provi)
45.33mpg
B20 in the tank

Car has 165xx miles now I think. Mileage has really shot up since 14k...maybe cold weather, maybe slower driving, maybe car is starting to break in some more...

$3.299 for Premium B5.

Next tank should be interesting. I had my TB changed mid tank... second half of the tank was pretty doggone good... 1st half was lousy... we'll see.

It gets easier...pretty soon, it becomes easier to ignore the people passing you, and your hands loosen from the wheel as the stress melts away.

I still have relapses from time to time, but for the most part, I just consider a constant stream of cars going around me to be normal now.

I don't drive for mileage, I just drive fast. Lotsa city lotsa full throttle. This is the first time I've broken 600 miles on a tank. I think I did a little less city this week....

Not worthy, but figured I'd post it up anyways. 38.06MPG a best tank for me.
