Hey y'all. I am looking to make a live data setup for my 04 Jetta. I will probably be using a Bluetooth android tablet with a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. However, if there is a significantly better app for IOS i could do that as well. The general answer seems to be the Tourqe Pro app but I want to get y'alls input specifically for our cars. I want to make sure I'll the most amount of data I can. Especially decently accurate boost.

Basically, what app works best with the mk4s? Thanks!

I'm not an iPhone guy, so I probably won't be much help. When looking for such an app for Linux, I remember seeing an open source VAG reader that would work with Linux, Android, and iOS. I think you would have to compile the source code yourself. If that's helpful, look for it, and you'll probably find it. If you are looking for more of a plug and play solution for iOS, I can't help.

Sorry if that was confusing- I’m looking for a plug and play Android system but I can make an iOS system work if it is substantially better

I find OBDii on these way too slow to use for boost. I have a scangauge 2 installed to monitor a bunch of parameters, but boost is useless. Can't beat an actual analog gauge.

I have one of these in my F-350 Powerstoke and like it a lot. If only I could figure out a good place to mount it in my Jetta.

Thats what I was worried about. I think I'll go with Tourqe Pro and get an analog boost gauge. Thanks all for the help!

A cheap (<$50) heads-up display (HUD) that plugs into the OBD port and tells you what's what. Bounces an image off clear plastic see-through "screen".
Here's the one in the image above; NLA, but there are numerous other options out there.

Ordered this one. Should be here tomorrow. It's advertised as a HUD, but it's a direct display (which I prefer) - it doesn't reflect off the windshield.

Now the Chinese Communist Party will be able to track my every move!:LOL::ROFLMAO:

Did you read the description before ordering?
  • Incompatible car types: hybrid electric vehicle, diesel car, pickup truck, RV, computer modified car
I didn't see that, but I think that is CYA; basic OBD is pretty standard. But if it doesn't work, Amazon has a good return policy.

How did you like this HUD?
Display was too small for me to read - but that's just me, I have vision just barely good enough to pass the driver exam. Also, I live at 6300', and the boost gauge assumes sea level instead of sensing ambient pressure. So it reads boost pressure - 3 psi. No thanks.

Want it? Yours for cost of shipping.

Does it have the options for displaying anything related to Regen or DPF pressures? Mainly what i am looking to read. I bought a cheap plug in last night that bluetooths to a phone app and it has those readings.

It has been a while since I played with it; so my memory is a bit fuzzy. Also, I don't own a vehicle with a DPF. I think I remember you can display any value the OBD2 provides - but I can't guarantee it. Here is (from the Amazon ad) a graphic showing all the different icons it has. I think the "PID" icon on the lower left is for an OBD2 value which has no specific icon.
