Well, I would show up, but as of yesterday, the jetta is a bit of a mess. Had an 'encounter' with a truck trailer. Everyone involved is fine, but the car is likely totalled, just waiting to hear from the insurance co...

So unless I manage to get me a new one by the 17th
I wont be able to show.

DBW, make sure you bring a battery charger for your XM radio. Wait.. may be too cold to be outside. Never mind.

He has a nice sound system installed in his Jetta.

Of course I'd bring the charger, gotta have the tunes
. By the way the weather out this way is perfect for a hard working GTG it's in the 50's here today

Bummer to hear about your car! You may be surprised to see what they can fix up these days.

I just turned 30k so won't be needing a TB for a while. I'd like to stop by for a beer or two though.

We're still needing a Portland site. I'm two hours south and not nearly as convenient to LaGrande or Washington. Care to help make a one or two car garage available?

Well my garage is pretty small and old, but more importantly full of crap at the moment, not to mention the rest of the place (we just moved in this week).

It *might* be doable, but I'm doubtful.

My 1998 NB is at 42,500 miles and have just bought the parts and tools (per DBW's instructions in the FAQ section).

Am thinking of bringing my friend Chris who helps me work on the car (he had installed my bypass filter) and do the TB there with help/advice from DBW.

Will that work, DBW?

Bring the parts and I'll guide you guys through the job.

SOMEBODY name the place so I can make plans for getting out there. I'm only about 3 hours down the road so I'll drive in and head back the same day.

Yes we do at

http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&addr=3733+Goldcrest+Hts+Nw&city=Olympia&state=WA&csz=Olympia,+WA+98502-4005&slt=47.061991&sln=-122.949152&zip=98502-4005&country=us&BFKey= &BFCat=&BFClient=&cs=9&name=&desc=&poititle=&poi=&ds=n&mag=8&newmag=7

on Sunday 11/17/02 starting around 10 AM.

So far we are trying to do 2 timing belts and 2 brake jobs (Tom- still with me on this one ??) with Drivebywire showing up somewhere around noon or a bit later based on how his drive is going (about 5+ hours).
.
I'll have coffe, tea and some snacks - and please bring along your better half for DBW is bringing his girfriend with him so the ladies have some company!!! In addition other mods can be made based on how involved it gets. The weather promisess to be a delightfull 55-60 deggrees with a steady supply of HO2 to remind us where we live
. Please check this post before you leave for any last minute changes and to verify DBW will be here to help us - if he cant may the farce be with us.

Bad news you guys, the lady friends aunt died and she is flying out friday for the service. I'll be going solo this time but next time she will be coming along.

Sunday is a go for me so I'll pack up a bunch of tools and everything we need. I'll try and get there early and shoot for 10:00 am.

See ya there. Thanks again for the loan of the 17mm wrench and the nice TDI grill badge at the Auburn GTG in September, Heinz.

Heinz, are you planning to have this GTG at your place? If so, I will certainly be there and hoping that someone can bring a VAG COM with them. I still need to have my EGR cycle changed.

I hope you guys have a good time. Sharon and I have football practice on Sundays, so I will be thinking about what you guys are doing while I try to catch passes.

It will be inside - as much as a 2 car garage can handle with everyone bouncing in and out but its not going to be nearly as bad as today so we should stay dry
.
