I second that statement, next time unless I have some small mod I'll be able to just walk around talk and help others.

My compression test left me with all smiles though.

9 cranks approximately for each cylinder and they all were still climbing strong at ~505 psi. Didn't want to crank to much past that though cause the battery wasn't on a charger. Not bad for a car with ~360,000 miles on it.

RC5 sure made the trip home seem alot quicker =P.

It was great meeting more people and hangin out. And let's just say getting on the highway just became a lot more fun. I look forward to another GTG!

Thanks to Matt for the place and the replacement turbo. I worked out the oil pressure concerns I had, the wire was rubbing where I forgot to install a grommet on the firewall. It was great meeting everyone and I'll be around to help wrench on stuff when anyone needs it.

Yeah I started taking it out at 3PM and things were back together and running at about 830 or 9.

Also, I found a gearset (5th?) on the floor of my backseat today. If somebody put it in the wrong car and is looking for it let me know.

Matt was trying to get rid of that gearset. Maybe he just decided to clean out the garage.

I had time to think on the ride home and I've been to a lot of GTGs at this point, and this one is special. I can't quite finger it, but the people are more enthusiastic, the conversations more spirited, the cars more varied--lots of good things going on. And TDI owners are, as always, an excellent group. More than once I've said I am in this business because of the great people who own these cars. Saturday was proof.

Matt, you've created an obgligation to keep this going. I had a great time. And I'll be back.

I'm glad everyone had a great time and can't thank you all enough for coming out! This is turning into something much larger than I ever expected . I was extremely surprised to see the aircooled group stop by. That ghia was beautiful. Amazing how even being seperated by over 40 years, vw's still draw more vw's haha.

There's definitely going to be another in later spring. Hopefully, the facilities will get nicer each time and eventually a 30x50 pole barn .

It must've been a good gtg since I went through over 100 hot dogs, 45 1/3lb burgers, and darn near every crumb of the other side dishes was gone haha. For those inquiring about the burger seasoning, I used maple wood to cook them over and sprinkled on canadian steak seasoning.

I know Jeff was busy as can be also, I think he did 19 or 20 cars. I believe the last gentlemen to get tuned left just shy of 1am.

JonsTDI - Glad to hear the turbo worked out for you. That was definitely a rather unusual faliure to see haha. Your better half asked if she could have that gearset to make a piece of art out of. So they're yours now .

I can't thank everyone enough for the generous donations! I was definitely not expecting the level of genorosity. It's all getting re-invested into further product development and business growth . If only I could buy some free time haha .


This is the only picture I was able to snap during the day. It's of course only a fraction of the total car count. IIRC, someone counted over 35 cars at one point.

lol yeah my bad I was the one to hold up the closing time . But Austen was still going strong in the garage when I left. So I don't feel to guilty.

I was on my way home and decided having at that point been up almost 24 hours to take a nap at a rest stop cause i was sooo tired. When I woke up like 2 hours later I realized I was only 30 minutes from home! I had been following the gps and not paying attention to where I was that entire time haha

torque converter

those interested in how our torque converter is doing...we drained our atf and replaced the filter and then put in castrol atf for cars over 75k miles.( it says on the carton that it supports pre 2006 volkswagens). so far no more crazy shaking while accelerating and it shifts better.( knock on wood). thanks again guys.
