What is it with 02's? Mine is going to be the death of me (and my bank account) also haha.

tdidieselbobny - I've got a compression tester. No need to bring yours Aaron.

So I made a hotel reservation for Friday night so I guess I'm coming. It's been busy enough here this week (thanks for the orders, all of you) and George has been on vacation (what am I doing wrong?) that I was on the fence but I want to come out. And I want a road trip.

I'm not going to get out of here until afternoon on Friday so I'll stop in NY overnight and drive the rest early Saturday. Expect me late AM.

I'm not going to bring a lot of random parts. So if you need or want anything order it on the site and choose "Local/GTG pickup" as a shipping option. And if you want to pay me Saturday that's fine, although it's much easier to do a credit card on the site beforehand. If you're not sure you're going to make it but want stuff if you do join us, then order and choose check/money order as payment. If you don't make it no worries, I can ship it next week or cancel the order.

See you Saturday!
I will place my order for some oil and filters today.. thanks peter

Scrapen - Yup, as Bob said, it's a factory glitch. My roommate's car is a 99.5 and he's also getting chipped on saturday to take care of it.
In that case...depending on the process required to get rid of the hot start vs going all out and getting chipped, i may have to jump in jeff's ever-growing line.

And dieselbob, i always find it easiest for long trips to just "go w/ the flow". Even if everyone is going 80...there's always someone going 90 :).

I'll be there too. I might try to wire up an remote adjustable fast idle switch. See what we can make happen or smoke. And hopefully I will get to meet Peter. See you all tomorrow. :)

I don't think I want to do anywork lol I'm still worked out from my FMIC from last week. Not to mention my In tank lift pump I ordered didn't get here in time for saturday. So I'll just have to wire it myself when I get back home =/. However I'll be getting Jeff to tune my car in advance for the new hardware since I have no clue when I'll get to see him again. I'd bring my compression tester, but it was a HF and it doens't work so well anymore lol

Edit: Due to sheer curiosity once everyone is done with your compression tester. I would like to test mine. When I was there six months ago the engine had just been rebuilt two weeks prior. Being six months in I'm curious as to what PSI the cylinders are building haha.

Guys,

I was planning on attending Saturday as my parents live nearby in Fremont, then on Sunday/Monday replace the clutch in my Beetle. Had to work today, clutch just came this afternoon/evening. Too tired to drive 450 miles tonight. Next time I'm up to Ohio, I'm going to try to stop by. Have a great weekend!

I'm in Batavia, NY. Leaving out early, be there before noon. Kinda a long drive, given I didn't leave until 4:00. 450 miles, just a hair more than 1/2 tank. Cruise set at 75 most of the time.

Leaving in about 15 minutes. Got some cold drinks, beer brats and chips for the GTG. I can't wait for that ride home with the RC1+.

I also got an early start thanks to some poor sleep, so I'm taking a breather and watching the sunrise over I-75 just south of the get together.

I've got a perma-grin RC1+. It feels good to be chimped. This is how it should have been tuned from the factory! It has really come alive.

I had a great time talking with everyone. Matt, the burgers were great and I loved the seasoning plus the smoke flavor from that Maple wood! Thanks to Glen for tweaking my average MPG display with VCDS so it's more accurate.

Blue Jetta's Dad, also enjoyed checking out your Jeep Liberty and all of it's production and technical data (I hope that torque converter lasts for you).

THANKS ALOT!!!!
I am amazed at how knowledgable you guys are! I went to this GTG hoping (more like praying) that someone would be able explain our transmission problem. I got that thanks to Glen and the remote windows mod(Glen) and even fixed my radio miswire thanks to keebler. And thanks to carl for the mirror and the info on the suspension. Also thanks to Whitbread for the (root) beer and burgers (what seasoning was that??). My dad and I had a great time!!

IIRC the seasoning on the burgers was wood smoke...

Had me a great time, didnt get squished, and hung out with some awesome aircooled VWs, Awesome TDIs, and Awesome TDI owners.

When's The next one Matt :)

Thanks to Whitebeard and Jeff!

I want to personally thank our gracious host "Whitebeard" Matt and everyone else who made for a fantastic day. This is the first GTG I or my son have attended. What a very nice supprise it was to see so many "oil burners" outside of a Flying-J parking lot;)
The time Jeff "Rocket chip" took with each tune up into the wee hours was fantastic. My son David Grinned all the way back to Columbus.

The burgers and hot dogs were cooked to prefection and delicious.

Whitebeards fabrications are more like works of art that should be hanging on the wall instead of beeing under a closed hood:D

Joe, owner of the only non vw diesel there.

Another great GTG, Matt. And I particularly enjoyed seeing all those type 2 busses around.

Just got home, decided to drive straight through for reasons that escape me. But it is a beautiful day here. Nap time.

Matt, thanks for hosting another GTG. Alicia and I had a great time again! It was nice to hang out with everybody and see some cool air cooled buses & cars.

Growler, thanks for putting some finishing touches on my car and teaching me some too!

Peter, good to see you and Parker again.

Hope to see everybody at the next GTG...where?...when?

Thanks to Matt for the place and the replacement turbo. I worked out the oil pressure concerns I had, the wire was rubbing where I forgot to install a grommet on the firewall. It was great meeting everyone and I'll be around to help wrench on stuff when anyone needs it.

I had a great time at the GTG!!! After seeing the NB run, I'm definitely coming back for a bigger turbo & exhaust on the wagon. Jeff did an excellent job of waking up the Passat with his tune & the car runs like a champ. I made pretty good time going home & luckily didn't get any tickets!!
After seeing the buses, beetles, & that 1 Ghia, I'm wishing I had more room for another project!!
I bought a set of roof racks & can't remember who I bought them from, but if you read this, I need the keys if you have them.
