Wow! This is the first time I've seen the thread; I hope I'm not too late.

I've got the MFA in my old 16V Jetta and it is kinda handy. I'd love to be able to get the same functions in my new baby. Will it work in my early build car (09/98)?

This will only work on mk 4 golfs and jettas built after may of 1999. this means model year 2000 and up ONLY.

Joe, If you have any one that is interested in one of the 'old style' MFA clusters, I still have the last one that you sold me that I would like to get some $$$ back from. Its the kind with LCD and not the red LEDs. It will not work in my car.

If you have someone interested in it, please point them my way! I would like to recover some of my $$$ in this upgrade attempt..

Is there anyway that you can keep your current dashboard layout and just change the center section, where all the MFI/A readouts would be?

Has anyone ever looked into this? If so, I would be very interested in it.

there's no procedure or parts for adding the mfi display in a non-mfi cluster.

the clusters are available as complete units only.

If this is a Euro TDI cluster it should work fine since you are in Canada (you are, right?), but measurement units are not re-programmable for a US application.

If this cluster is available and you successfully install one, could you please email me...I'm updating the B4 MFA conversion article and want to mention this option for Canadian owners.

The core change makes the cost very prohibitive. Sorry, but I'll have to take my chances on finding one at a salvage yard next time I'm in Germany.

...i agree. if you at least can get your hands on a very cheap used one as a core, then it would/could be worth your while....

you might want to look around on german ebay.
