I have a 1996 Passat wagon that runs good but has rust.I searched every thing I could find on the internet and nobody sells any sheet metal like fenders or doors or any body metal parts. I specifically need floor pan sections that can be welded in after cutting the rust area out.I know these cars are over 25 years old and rarely show up in savage yards anymore. Does anyone know where to get new metal parts? Is the only way to save these cars is to hope and find a car some one is selling with a bad engine and either put my drive train in it or try and find a parts car to cut the floor sections out? On another topic somewhat related;I have another Passat wagon in excellent condition I am not currently driving and was planning on keeping it a long time.If I was involved in an accident that was not that serious there or no parts available to repair it and the insurance company would total it.I would have to search the entire country for used parts to try and fix it or it would become a very nice parts car

Thanks for the few responses.I think I will just run an add on here and Facebook marketplace to try and sell it. I have one coworker that said he was interested in it and will ask him. The car runs and I drive it everyday but with the suspension work it needs I try and not drive it over 150 miles in one direction.

Here in Europe its not much better. For my Golf Mk3 Estates i cant find any parts behind the front doors (as its all different then on the hatchbacks). Someone rear ended my dad when he was driving one of them and the rear hatch is dented and bumper cracked. Insurance totaled the car and we didnt get much for it (as they measure cost by age of the car so anything older then 2010 is scrap to insurance here).
Anyway no junkyards have or have had any parts for these things in years as there are only 24 registered of them here in Slovenia. Guess a hammer and some body filler will do:)

Rock Auto has fenders and hood, plus some other front end stuff, like grille etc. The problem is the truck freight is outrageous for the parts and you don't know where they're actually coming from.

Good luck
