Good morning TDIClub,

I've spent a few hours looking through forums and doing searches and advanced searches with no success, can a member tell me how/where to look to find info on replacing the turbo in my 06 BRM?

Mine is 2006 TDI BRM 5-speed manual, upgraded Colt Stage 2 Camshaft, I have a brand new Garrett PD140 sitting in a box I am trying to do as much research as possible before I go into it.

Is there a place for pics and steps? Or am I wishful thinking.......

Thanks in advance.

I’ve heard it’s easier to calibrate the Turbo before installing. Don’t assume that it’s set correctly.

I would have to look up the procedure, but you put so much vacuum on the actuator and at a certain vacuum amount. It should start to move off of the stop that corresponds and tells the computer where the vacuum actuator rod is.

There are just too many to list....
You should not have to mess with it. If you do, chances are you have some other issue like a vacuum source problem or a bad N75 valve. There are variations in these systems but so long as the ECU can properly control it there should be no issue. Besides, you mess with the VNT adjustment on BW and Garrett alike and you'll void the warranty. Although I've never had to warranty one regardless.

I would be curious to see if someone lined up 10 OEM turbochargers out of the box and measured the VNT rod movement at a specific level of vacuum if any variation existed, though. Now a USED turbo, especially on a modded car, anything could be off slightly. But a new one out of the box I would doubt it.

Rx, Hammer, you're the best thank you. Gone are my days of youth saying "Eh, fkit see what happens" Age has made me more patient and also made me seek others' wisdom where I can only guess.
