I went for a simple inspection sticker. It passed. Picked up after week of sitting. It was a cold weak battery with not enough to start. Boosted the battery and drove home and fully charged overnight. Drive to work next day, all good. Following morning no start. 5 year old battery, so new h7 battery replacement. Works good first day then no instrument lights no crank.
This lead me to replace the steering lock housing which I discovered had broken.

Go to work and return. Next day no cluster lights but cranks fine and gets immobilized. Battery at 85% and two codes.
- P1650 35 10 missing msg from cluster
- p1570 35 00 engine start blocked by immobilizer.
Is the little clip on the key tumbler all it would take to cause this? I’m not sure it’s locking tab is still intact.

I went and checked my work. Both the yellow clip to the steering lock housing and the black clip to the key tumbler are connected. Both 5 amp instrument clusters fuses are working. Is the instrument cluster broken?

The pickup ring for the immobilizer surrounds the lock cylinder casing, and since the immob issue seems to have started after you were in the area I'd be inclined to go back and check around that area carefully.... accidental damage, broken wire, disconnected connector, etc.

Im having a big drain on battery now. My curiosities grow overwhelming. I could take alternator out for testing but I don’t imagine that would cause an immo issue. It was a good alternator before the battery boosting.

Got car running again but no dashboard gauges or lights worked. Just the clock and trip.

-Getting intermittent 18058 code for missing message from instrument cluster.
-01299 diagnostic interface for data bus no communication
-00849 s contact ignition/starter switch unknown condition
-00957 key 3 adaptation limit surpassed

The 4 door control module supply voltages are all too low…

It seems to be rejecting its new car parts so I gave the immo a tune.
I’m wondering if the new ign switch is causing the issue.

I couldn’t get instrument cluster to light up with oe ignition switch. Only clock and trip work. I didn’t unplug the cluster or mess with it, so I’m leaning towards a cluster replacement.

Anyone have a good cluster replacement? I will check some junk places before I go for any upgrades but I’ve always wanted an ambient temp gauge.

Does the Glow Plug Light come on when the key is in the ON position?

No but relay 109 is good. I tried two different gray 109s and both start the vehicle, I just wait for expected glow cycle duration before starting. Nothing on cluster works other than aforementioned clock and trip
