I just got my car back from the body shop after I took out a deer with the front end. All is well with the car, instrument panel, A/C, everything, but there is no power to the radio. I assumed I would have to reset the radio's anti theft system when I got the car back, but there is nothing showing on the display and no power to it from what I can tell. The body shop said they removed the battery to do some of the work but nothing more. I checked all the fuses related to the radio and they all looked fine. Any suggestions?

This is a 2002 Jetta TDI.

Thanks,
Tim

Actually on an '02, you shouldn't have to reset the radio code. As long as its the original one in the car, it should find itself and be fine.
There is a fuse in the back of the radio unit itself....
However, I have had one VW radio headunit fail w/o blowing any fuse(s) in this very way. Following a battery change (no the cables didn't get reversed or anything like that) the unit no longer worked. Switching headunits with another one confirmed the unit was toast.
Good luck.

If you don't have a set of radio keys, most car-audio shops will pull it for you if you agree to do a coffee-run after - cheaper than a set of radio keys for sure!

Thanks jettawreck, it was the fuse on the back of the radio, didn't see that one initially.

Now I have a working radio again! By the way, every time my radio loses power from the battery, it always asks for the code?? I have it memorized now.

If its the original radio for the car it shouldn't need to recode. If it's been swapped at some time then, yes. My '00 I had would need to recode each time, but if I recall correctly according to the owners manual in '01 they changed this feature.
